Is it just my imagination, or, after only a few weeks have we suddenly learned how to retain possession from our own throw ins?

Yes.
This has been a bugbear of mine for some time and I remember saying during the NY game that we're taking throw ins properly again - although, a few of Forster's came perilously close to being foul throws.

Butcher has watched the tapes and seen us lacking in this area and reacted accordingly. Low and behold we retain possession from throw ins instead of every throw in being gifted to the opposition.

They're also going forward, too often we took the easy option and threw back to the defenders. Now they are taken quickly (if possible) and with purpose.

They are also taking them in under half an hour! Need players with that hunger to actually want the ball!

We can take corners now as well.
Amazing what happens when you get in a proper manager.
And to think there were people who wanted to give Fenlon more time. :-(

We are no better at throw ins on the left hand side. McGivern insists on always launching it up the line to Stevenson or Cummings who have 3 or 4 opposition players around them.

Mc givern is not a long throw man. In fact I think we could do without him. He is *hite.
