    Player Ratings v Killie

Williams - solid -not much to do - decent kicking - 7

Forster - put in a good few crosses - didn't do much wrong - 7.5
Nelson - solid defensively - in possession needs to just play short rather than sending it long - 7
Hanlon - didn't do much wrong and took goal well - 9
McGivern -Started 1st half well linking up with Cairney - little dodgy middle of 2nd half with the ball -but finished strongly - 7

Cairney - similar to McGivern above - a few decent runs / possibly penalty claim. Took goal well - 7
Robertson - worked hard - few misplaced passes but kept going and made a few good interceptions - 7
Craig - similar to Robertson but fewer misplaced passes - 7
Stevenson - can't remember much he did wrong -always looks to play football on the ground - had several shots and deserved goal the way he's been playing recently - 8

Collins - ran and ran - held ball up well - good save from header - just needs a goal!!! - 7.5
Cummings - looks like confidence is growing and got better as game went on - like Collins a goal would give confidence a big boost - 7

    Subs -

OTJ - not enough time to rate.
Handling - did well and looked lively - 6

Hibs Fans - decent support and excellent drumming and noise from Section 43 / East
Killie Fans - decent numbers but quiet

Killie players - Boyd a handful but not many chances / No 10 for them - young Johnstone looks a player.

Ref - few shockers but gave us a few things I thought Killie should have got.

Overall much better - looking solid at the back - 2nd fewest goals against in the league behind Celtic. 3 goals and a home win is more like it and even though it wasn't free flowing football for 90 mins we dug in and stuck at it. Finally looking dangerous at set pieces also.

The derby won't be easy but if we defend well and limit them I think we can score at least 1. Butcher has only lost 1 while in charge and I am seeing improvements - so happy so far in a short space of time

    Agree with this.

Williams 7 - Didn't have too much to do but its another clean sheet.

Forster 7 - Not sold on him as a right back but if he keeps playing the way he is then I can't complain.

Nelson 7.5 - Very well played Nelson, brilliant signing. Helped keep Boyd fairly quiet today.

Hanlon 10 - Brilliant today, simply outstanding. His goal was a well timed run and got to it well.

McGivern 6.5 - A bit slack at times, final ball a bit questionable but he did what he needed to do and helped keep a clean sheet.

Cairney 8 - lost possession a few times but his constant drive to take his man on is refreshing, we've missed it the past 7 months or so. Took his goal very well and on his weaker foot as well.

Robertson 7 - Not a quiet game but he did the quiet things so to speak, lost possession a few times as well but always put himself about and works well with the players around him.

Craig 7 - Same as Robertson.

Stevenson MOTM 10 - A performance that absolutely deserves a standing ovation. Gives 110% for this club and to see him now being more adventurous and attacking is a delight. Took his goal ever so well, filled in for McGivern when he went forward. The lad was perfect today.

Collins 7.5 - Worked hard and deserved a goal almost as much as Stevenson, just needs that one goal to give him the confidence to go on a run I think. Glad to see he didn't get selfish at 2-0 though and looked up to pick passes and assist Stevenson.

Cummings 7 - A lot of running and if he had a little bit more pace he would be a brilliant player, like Collins I feel he's just a goal away from getting into a good run of form. Glad to see the players get behind him after being subbed. Your goal will come lad.

Fans done well, sang and kept the team going. Killie brought a fair few as well although not surprising on the back of a 4-0 win.

Williams 6 - not much to do but when called upon he was solid as per usual.

Forster 6 - Decent enough going forward and dominated physically however there was a couple of passages of play from Killie that if they had a better final ball he would have been caught out.
Nelson 7 - Calming influence on the defense did everything well today
Hanlon 8 - Played very well, strolled through the game and attacked the ball very well for his goal. Need to see more of this from him.
McGivern 6 - Good spells and bad spells, mostly good however.

Cairney 7 - created one, scored one and could have had a penalty. Some great moments of skill and some infuriating moments of indecision, returning to the player we know.
Robertson 7 - worked hard and unlucky not to score. Linked play well in a disciplined performance.
Craig 6 - Tidy in possession but didn't get involved going forward enough.
Stevenson 8 - My MOTM, whipped in some great balls, stretched Killie wide and was a danger to them throughout capped off with a superb strike.

Collins 7 - unlucky not to score with a header, held the ball up well and worked very hard. He needs a goal for confidence but great pick out for Stevensons goal.
Cummings 5 - didn't hold onto the ball very well but worked hard and got stuck in. 1 shot when he should have played it wide.

Ref - Not sure as to why he didn't give what looked a stonewaller on Collins? Other than that he made the calls 50/50 seemingly guessing who had wronged and who was innocent. Useless.

Williams 6 Not a lot to do. What he did have to do he dealt with comfortably.

    Forster 7 Solid

Nelson 7 Solid. He's no nonsense.

    Hanlon 8 Excellent again

McGivern 6. Some good, some bad. Mostly ok.

Cairney 7 Not his best today imo but set one up and scored so if that's him on a poor day......

Craig 7 Thought he was very good today. Battled and moved the ball well.

Robertson 6 Thought he had his boots on the wrong feet in the 1st half. Every pass was over hit or misplaced. Battled away though and broke the play up well. Much better 2nd.

Stevenson 9 Best he has played for us in a long time. Usually Mr consistent, today Mr outstanding.

Cummings 6. Thought he was muscled out it a bit today and made a few poor decisions. Still looked lively though.

Collins 8 This guy is really growing on me. Worked so hard, great assist for the 3rd and could have had a couple himself with a few breaks.

Williams 7 - Safe pair of hands, new contract please ASAP

Forster 7 - Showing great maturity playing out of position, great stuff and delivered a couple of great crosses
Nelson 8 - No coincidence our results have improved since he came back, captain material IMO
Hanlon 8 - Another superb display, looks a great partnership forming with Nelson
McGivern 8 - First to every ball today, great tackles, headers, crosses, swashbuckling display

Cairney 7 - Well taken goal, direct and forward thinking but still lacks a bit of extra determination when needed
Robertson 5 - Bit of an off day for the big fella with too many stray passes, unlucky with the header of the bar
Craig 5 - For me struggling at the moment to influence the game enough
Stevenson 9 - Fantastic Lewis, deserved MOTM IMO, much better in his natural position and got his reward with his goal

Cummings 6 - Looks a bit like Hernandez of Man Utd to me - LOL, once he gets stronger we'll be on our edge of our seats
Collins 6 - Worked hard for the team today but he needs to score soon, harsh but it's becoming a problem

Handling 4 - Still looks a bit out of all sorts at the moment
Tudor Jones 1 - No time

Butcher 8 - Well done, the team looks sharper, fitter and the team are pressing higher up the pitch.
Ref 5 - Cairney's looked a stone waller, not sure about Collins
Fans 6 - A bit nosier today but crowds need to improve

Williams ...... 6 ....... not much to do, solid when required.

Forster ..... 7 ..... forward play was better today
    Hanlon ..... 8 ...... very good game
Nelson ..... 7 ...... Hooof .... ave it !!! .... at the right time though.
McGivern .. 7 ..... Got more right than wrong today

Robertson ... 6 ... a wee bit below his best, but kept at it
    Craig .......... 6 ... same as Robertson
Cairney ....... 7... gets a wee bit lost on the ball at times, but tries to attack every time
    Stevenson .. 9 .. Goooooooooaaaaaalllllllll !!!!!

    Collins .... 7 ..... worked very hard
    Cummings .. 6 ... also worked hard

    Subs ... Handling 4 ... OTJ 1

For all that Killie picked up a lot of 2nd balls in midfield and tried to attack I thought we defended very well and closed down well. As good as Hibs have been this season since the celtc game at ER.

Thoroughly enjoyed today. My first view under Butcher: clearly a team in transition, but clearly a team that will improve and improve. Can't remember feeling this optimistic for quite a few years.

HOWEVER, as a professional footballer who can't pass a football to a teammate, McGivern should never get a 7 or 8 on today's performance.

    Lewis was great today tho.

My thoughts exactly. It's great to have a keeper who provides so much reassurance and solidity, it's so important. I hope we don't take that for granted when it comes to contract talks.

Williams 7 - didn't have much to do, but performed well when called upon. Definitely a good steadying influence behind the back four

Forster 7 - put in some good tackles and provided some good support down the left. Lost Johnston a couple of times when he cut inside and drove on but looked comfortable nonetheless
Nelson 8 - lost nothing in the air and had Boyd in his back pocket. Leads the team well and is helping guys like Hanlon and Forster out massively, communicates so well with them
Hanlon 8 - played well, a few good interceptions and a well taken goal
McGivern 7 - choice of pass was questionable at times, but tried to get forward well

Cairney 7 - took his goal well and provided a good direct presence, but always seemed to be looking to go down
Robertson 6.5 - not at his best, couple of good interceptions but gave the ball away too often for my liking
Craig 7 - provided some good balls but perhaps sat a bit too deep in the second half
Stevenson 8 - great support for the forwards, and his pace for the goal was great. Really determined and perhaps sums up the type of team that TB wants to mould.

Cummings 7 - looks like a good prospect, had the Killie defence on the back foot when he had the ball. Linked quite well with Collins and a few goals will boost the boy's confidence
Collins 7.5 - worked tirelessly, despite again drawing a blank in front of goal. Does a lot of good work up front and definitely looks like he will benefit from playing with fast players around him. Brilliant vision and technique on the pass to set up Lewis

On a separate point, did anyone else notice Collins reaction to Cairney's goal? Whilst the rest of the guys all celebrated together, he wandered back to the half way line looking a bit left out.

IIRC Collins booted the ball into the net and celebrated with the North Stand after Cairney's goal. He puts in so much running I wouldn't be surprised if he just took a breather at that point!
