Lomas sacked by Millwall after only being in charge since the start of the season. Another manager who did well in Scottish football but fails down south. In the premier league just now Hughes, McCall, McInnes and Butcher have all failed to last down south but are regarded as being decent managers in Scotland. Is our game now not even able to produce decent managers?

Different ball game down there. Why hand out 3 year deals if they are going to sack after 6 months. Costing clubs fortunes

There are only 3 managers out of the four leagues of English football who have been in charge for more than 5 years and only one (Arsene Wenger) has been in charge for more than 8 years.
More than half (51) of clubs have appointed their current manager within the last 12 months.
In Scotland, only one manager has been in charge for more than 5 years (Dick Campbell at Forfar).
Almost half (20) of the clubs in the SPFL have appointed their current manager within the last 12 months.

It seems to me that its not only the SPFL which isnt producing top class managers at the moment. I presume your point is made on the back of the lack of top class playing talent coming out of Scotland as well. But as long as kids are being poached from our clubs the minute they are out of nappies and can kick a ball straight its going to remain that way. It will be interesting to see if young Gauld at Dundee Utd can resist the big bucks from down south. It would be a shame to see him disappear into some English giants 'developement squad' never to be seen again.

Since then, two English managers have won the FA Cup (Joe Royle and Harry Redknapp) and four have won the League Cup (Steve McClaren, Brian Little, Roy Evans and Ron Atkinson).
Six major honours in over twenty years!
