McCluskey has been no stranger to controversy and felt the wrath of Celtic fans more than once. In 1990, they accused him of favouring Rangers and hired a private detective to follow him after their 2-1 Skol Cup Final defeat.

Only the SFA could give a cup final to a referee knowing that it's there last game.

If I was a referee and I was given Hibs v Someone in a SC final for my last ever game, i'd be putting the ball in the net myself.

Didn't make much difference, mind. That was the cup final where Jim Leighton (also in his final ever game) was clattered by a Hun in the first few minutes and couldn't continue. The sheep didn't name a sub goalie and had to put Robbie Winters in goal.

Quite simply one of the best referees Scotland ever produced, a referee who had the respect of both players and officials. Jim was a referee who always wanted to let the games flow and stay out of the limelight, but he knew exactly when to step in if required. A relatively young age to pass away and very sad for his family, condolences to them.

I hate to speak ill of the dead but I'm afraid I have to disagree here. Jim McCluskey (and I'm gonna sound like a Sellik fan here) always favoured Rangers with 50/50 decisions. I saw it many times when the Huns played Hibs.
    This is how it feels
