    Amido Balde

New Celtic signing certainly looks the part....

22 ....6'4'' It looks to me that with a 4 year deal on a player this age they are realising that they are a feeder club for EPL these days and are being used as a stepping stone... their £7 million hope from Hooper is optimistic given he has not resigned......HULL yes HULL looking to take their top scorer...changed days

Next season, Celtics front line could be...

    A Balde. T Watt.

Realising where you are on the football food chain is the first step to a well run club. Its like admitting you are an alcoholic.

They realised that 2-3 years ago. Most of their major signings since then fit that model (eg1 Hooper, eg2 Wanyama, eg3 Forster). Although Balde is a bit of a strange one because he could have been signed for free a year ago (released by Sporting Lisbon).

Thats true - but this guy is a proven 1st team player...McGoo was a reserve player..and like Palsson proved why.

I hope someone has warned him that when Stokes offers to help him 'invest' his signing on fee....this is best option .

The last Balde they signed was utterly pish but turned out to be a bit of a legend as he spent most of his time on Septics treatment table bleeding them a salary every month.

Here's hoping this one follows suit.

Celtic have John Park so there's a pretty good chance this guy is good. The strategy of picking up decent unknown players and selling them on at a profit has been working pretty well over last couple of years. Park has been the major loss for us over the last few years, not brown or Thomson or fletcher. Only now are we possibly recovering from him and starting to see good young prospects come through. We are making some good signings but in the main they are solid journeyman pros (no disrespect intended) with some sort of spl experience, which is great and something our rivals were doing when we were offering wages to EPL failures and untried reserve players and look where that's got us in comparison. Park helped unearth some gems though that no one had heard of at the time. That's what we are missing that Celtic have just now.

The multi-million pound budget might separate us a bit too...

TBF Fenlon identified the scouting system at the club as being an area that needed overhauled and is something he's apparently started.

Park was able to identify excellent players for us within our budget. I'm not saying we would sign the players celtic are signing but unearth players like benji, zemmama, boozy etc is something we haven't done since Park left IMHO. Yes we have Claros but his agent was touting him around Scotland (and England I'd imagine) after moves to Celtic and Rangers didn't happen.

Celtic have also signed some gash recently too though.
