Brighton v Palace starting soon.
Never seen any thread for yesterdays game. What an end to it! ...Leicester missed a pen (way too soft, never a pen) and the rebound...Watford went up the park and scored, followed by a pitch invasion. It was incredible.
Hopefully plenty drama & goals tonight too.

Saw the scenes as it developed on SSN yesterday. Amazing! Was hilarious with the steward tackling the Watford fan to the ground as hundreds of others ran on.

Brighton and Palace seem to have a really bitter rivalry. Anyone know the roots of this?

Certainly wasnt ongoing when I lived in Croydon 67-74. We never had any real rivals, although we really hated the Arse

Think it stems from a cup game in 1976, Mullery got a cup of coffee thrown over him by a Palace fan. Mullery responded by launching a handful of change to the ground and shouting "Thats all you'll ever be worth Palace". He also made numerous hand gestures towards the Palace fans.

Gordon Greer is playing for Brighton tonight. I believe he scored Killie's goal against us in the CIS final 2007 (which of course we won).

My mate over here is huge Brighton fan, away back for tonights game. He hates them as much as I hate Hearts. The rivalry has been going on for ages, but got worse when Brighton were 'homeless' a few years back.
2-0. Gutted for him

I wanted Brighton to win after seeing that. His parents will have a difficult night consoling the poor wee soul. He'll remember tonight for the rest of his life.
Can't see Gus Poyet being there next season.

SJNB Hibby, where does the love of Eagles come from?
I have been to many of their games over last 10 years and surprised by the "rivalry" with Brighton - i was at Selhurst a number of years ago and Palace won 5 - 0 on a tuesday night game in the championship and there were more police than you would see at an old firm game!!!!
There IS a real rivalry there no doubt about it.
Also want to say that there are MANY Palace who look out for Hibees results and some have been up here for a couple of the cup finals recently - we lost both!!!

I was at the first leg (Palace end) and will be at the final if I can get tickets. Dunno why it's being played on a Monday it's a bank holiday FFS and they pick the only day that you can't drink. A Palace-Hibs double would be a great weekend.

Started going to Selhurst park in 67-68, and was there when we beat Fulham 3-2 to win promotion in 69. Was behind the goal when John Sewells hit it and hope lob drifted thru Gary Sprakes hands, plus the 5-0 demolition of Man Utd, and beating Man City 1-0 to avoid relegation in 70
Last time I saw them was against Cambridge away in 82, although my mate and I were going to attend a game last year but it was snowed off
All my memorabilia, including the Don Rogers(I was there when he scored THAT(MOTD)goal) TOFFS shirt is of the Claret and Blue vintage. Steve Kember was our junior school coach way back in 67 when he was still in the England youth team-best player never to play for England-really nice bloke.
Jim Scott played for Palace back then(as did one of my heroes-Charlie Cooke). A Palace fan book said he could beat 2-3 players and then fall over---so true.
I wa sovernighting at Heathrow Friday-so saw the first game onthe telly, and had a funny feeling Brighton might have blown it after dominating the first 35 minutes and failing to score
