Pat Nevin just showed how insignificant the 5-1 is to us
Brilliant.
Obviously related to the stuff about his son, he just did the 5-1 on MOTD2.
Just shows how irrelevant itis.

Fair play from Pat, I hope the Jambos donate in return - as promised.
Smoothly worked into referencing it, "5 teams into 1 don't go. 1… Sunderland."

After he posted an apology to Jambos on a Hearts forum, they were trying to get a sponsored '5-1' going for him to do it on MOTD.
He did the 5-1 on MOTD2 and so the Jambos will, hopefully, be donating in response.
The charity in question is Autism Scotland.

Dear Jambos,
My apologies for barging in on your site, I am sure it isn’t hugely welcome from a Hibs man like me but I feel I need to talk to a number of the real Hearts fans directly. This particular topic seemed strangely fitting. It was recently brought to my attention that some unacceptable comments and language had been used against some Hearts fans on line, emanating from my son’s account. First of all they did come from him or at least some of them did, so no excuse there. In fact this is an open and sincere apology to anyone who was offended.
The excuse/reason for the language is that Simon is on the autistic spectrum and he is unaware of the offence and indeed the consequences of his words sometimes. He is a very keen Hibs fan and obviously got carried away with the ‘banter’ in cyberspace, many others may have done the same but I have told him it is absolutely not acceptable from him. He does not like talking about autism and we as a family have never made any public comments, so it is perfectly understandable if any of you were angered, you didn’t have the full facts.
Most importantly he is not a hateful guy anyway and there is certainly no negative feeling in our family against Hearts or indeed any team. Yes we support our team but it has never meant hatred of the opposition, not in this household anyway.
Like many parents, I was unaware of the intensity of the online ‘debate’, but my wife and I were shocked by it when we were made aware and as such we just couldn’t let it lie. It is worth mentioning that it was not a Hearts fan who brought it to our attention, so thank you to those who witnessed it for being so understanding already.
If any Hearts fan feels the need to contact me personally, I will try to get back on to the site and answer any questions when I have a moment. In the meantime, thanks for your understanding and of course please don’t let up on the abuse at me personally when I am squirming on the telly when Hibs are having a torrid time. Times such as at half time last week against Falkirk at Hampden and there might have been another time at Hampden a little while back but I can’t quite remember it. That abuse is welcome, funny and I always take it in the right spirit.
Good luck for the rest of the season, with the obvious exception of course!

Why is the 5-1 insignificant? We still, pathetically, go on about 0-7 at any given chance, yet us getting humped in the biggest ever derby has somehow been rendered insignificant? No danger. As far as football results go, that one will haunt me more than any other.

I have to admit that I was thinking about that episode when I saw Pat on the TV and was pretty shocked when he did it. It was quite clever how he managed to shoehorn it in but Shearer and the presenter were wondering what he was doing. There was an awkward silence for a few seconds but thinking about it, there always is.
Top stuff and I hope the boys on Hearts kickback are true to their word. The posts about Pat and the ones on the Killie match are good to read and it shows that the majority of them are just normal football fans with the same sense of humour and morals as any other. It's probably just a case of the erseholes making the most noise that give a place a bad name.

Thanks, and well done Pat. His hand may have been forced slightly, but you cant really argue with that for a sincere and genuine apology.

IF we win the thing it'll be totally insignificant. In fact they could take it, wrap it up and tie it up in a bow of roses then stick it where the sun don't shine and I wouldn't give a monkeys.
AND there's nothing pathetic about 0-7 :fenlon.

5-1 on a neutral ground is not letting in 6 at your rivals or 7 on your own patch.
5-1? We won a cup by that score.
**** the puddle drinkers. I hope the rats they eat for breakfast today taste nice.
**** the tramps.

You and the one above are either obsessive or not understanding the situation entirely.

No, I understand why he was doing it.
5-1 gestures mean **** all to me. The Savilles can flash them, or ask others to, all they like.

A bit out of context. Without risk of losing his job for trolling MOTD, perhaps we could ask him to do a 7-0 for the same charity?
It isn't following the issue that surrounded his kickback post but still a way to raise money for Hibs fans that may not donate otherwise?

Did it?
My fingers say otherwise.
