You're probably right about the money but I doubt the rating is going to be better. The two best teams in Europe who got the better against the two powerhouse's of world football and are now going to be competing with each other in the CL Final or a relegated EPL side against an inconsistent team that are a shadow of themselves that can't win a trophy.

The quality of German football is far supereor at the moment.
Especially the Bayern team in the last 4-5 years.

The schedule will have been in place for weeks now. Would the two losing semi finalists going head to head still he a huge draw outside Germany?

Couldnt get into European football until the blanket coverage of a new team from Glasgow call The Rangers.Even now there on SS4 instead of a meaningful Championship game.
If you got the time to catch a German/Italian game its worthwhile. The standard is so much better than we are used to in Scotland unfortunately. Mind you i wouldn't swap a minute watching the Hibees for anything else.

Barca and Madrid get half decent ratings in the UK (particularly when playing each other) but the other European leagues don't rate at all well.

I think you can see why ESPN would choose to show even a mediocre EPL game over foreign stuff.Last edited by Part/Time Supporter; 04-05-2013 at 01:36 PM. Reason: +other channels

The QPR-Arsenal game will attract a far larger TV audience in the UK than Bayern Munich-Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
Perhaps that's a sad indictment on British TV viewers but it's a fact.
Also, ESPN will have a contract with the Premier League that says they'll have to show so many games each season and cover each team so many times and they'll have the same contract with the Bundesliga.

Why would it be crazy, strange, sad or anything else, that viewers in the UK might prefer to watch a London derby (with the Gunners still having a bit to play for) than a meaningless German fixture?
Seems clear enough to me.

Just turned it over just now for the Fiorentina-Roma game and they were previewing some of their live games that are coming up over the next week or so.
Apparently Celtic are away to Notts County next week.
I wonder if the Notts County players are happy about this, considering that they're probably away on holiday just now after ending their season last week!
