And Joe T remains the best crosser of a ball I've seen playing for Hibs.

Great stuff Jon, not seen the Rangers one before and I was probably at the East Fife game but had forgotten about it.

    Keep em coming!

Excellent stuff Jonnyboy. The fact the commentary team from 1951 had the foresight to call" "them", The Rangers didn't go by me!!!

I remember being at the East Fife game huddled up under the old coo shed roof. Happy days indeed and what a turn of pace Houchy showed for goal 2
Never one to laugh at others misfortune but today could only have been improved by rangers getting horsed and God pissing down a meteor shower of fifty pound notes on Edinburgh

Commentator referring to them as 'The Rangers', yeah he knew it would happen!

Good video, not seen many Hibs ones from that long ago.

Some finish by Gordon Rae there, but what a great little footballer Ally McLeod was. Great cross for the first , very clever pass that was perfectly weighted for the second and a fine penalty to round off his performance. We don't have many like him round these parts no more (apart fi Leigh likesay)

Yeah very good strike rate in a team that was at the early stages of a downward turn. 1 in less than 3 is not to be sniffed at by anyone at any level.
Good stuff JC keep em comin

Wow, incredible footage. What is revealing is that the commentatory calls "The Rangers", "The Rangers". Did he know something then ?
    Fantastic goal by The Hibernian!

    It's true! Watch and listen

What I like in this video is Keith Houchen's elbow to the defender's coupon before scoring the second, and David Syme making it VERY clear what he'd given the penalty for!

See, this is when football was football:

    1. No silky skills on show at all.
    2. Ball looking like it weighs 100lbs
    3. No umbrella and **** wet through on the terraces at half time, freezing your nuts off and no where to go.
    4. Subs with rugs on their legs.
    5. The need to step out of a 'dug-out'
    6. Massive wasted space in the family 'enclosure'.
    7. A big ole under soil heating generator taking up more potential supporter space.
    8. Everyone huddling under the cowshed to at least stay dry if not warm.
    9. The massive dunbar end, grey, dull and miserable.
    10. Willie McEwan. The thinking man's Tam McCourt. Always around but for no good reason.

    Fitba'!

I think McLeod was under appreciated. He was actually very skillful as well as a decent goal scorer.

Although, in fairness, I saw him take what must have been the most pathetic attempt ever at a penalty kick at Brockville. Ally being Ally, he made up for it shortly after by scoring a cracker in open play.

Despite Miller's team's at ER being bookended by mediocrity, he actually, cough -splutter, produced some fine footballing sides in between. He was never going to please an element of the support because of his Hunnish background and his downbeat manner didn't do much for him in the PR stakes. My main criticism's would be that he was too cautious in his tactics and that he never resolved the left back issue in the ten or so years of his managership ( Joe T, Graeme Love etc, etc).

Sure Tortolano scored at the very first game I watched. It was a 3-0 home win against Dumbarton. Midweek game If I mind right. be about 88 I think. He always seemed to get a bit stick but on his day he was not a bad player.
