No record of any game in the database on the club website. Found my first game though, 2-2 against Chelsea August 3rd 1991!

There was talks recently (last few years) to get a game organised, but it failed in the latter stages. Maltese Hibs have tried to arrange it and the groundsman told us it was a 'dream' of his to see us play them.

Would be something different and a nice wee trip, warm weather, footy and a few beers .. sounds good to me

I remember when I used to collect programmes in the late sixties and replacing them in recent years, I was forever getting caught out by the Hibs [malta] v Man Utd, which was the same 1967 campaign which was won by Celtic.

Would be a mental trip. Was in their supporters club/bar (also the trophy room) and they had Hibs (us) scarves etc on wall, would be a great link to have!

Shame about the strip though. Should do a swap with Floriana FC.

I was there 2 years ago, that club in your picture is in the small town/ village called Paola if I recall. I also visited the ground wich was a good walk from where the club in your picture. I was invited in by one of the staff who showed me around, most of the walls inside their small club/changing rooms were versed in photos of clubs that they have played against. There was several scarves, pennants from hibees fans who have been there. Their ground I would say was the equivalent of a Scottish 3rd div side.

I went to see them when, for a while, all Maltese top flight matches were played one after another at the National Stadium, which is in the middle of nowhere. Quite bizarre as the ground emptied and filled up as teams came and went. And there were random cheers from fans listening to Italian matches on radios. Believe they are well used to Hibbies turning up at Paolo. We haven't played Hibernians of Malta, or Thornton Hibs from Fife, but we have played Dundee Hibernians and Cork Hibs!

Visited Malta, quite a few years ago, but was unaware that they had their own Hibernian and stadium then.Would have paid a visit for sure!
It would be great if the clubs forged a link and arrange games against each other. Who knows we might persuade them to adopt our beautiful colours!....oh and what an away game that would be!

Only Hibs could find a link with Oliver Reed, booze and fighting Sailors!!! (Love it)......not in J.C's day!
who would have come out tops Ollie or J.C ?...I will let you decide this one!

    Pretty easy actually

He was probably down The Gut, now sadly demised.

Casinos are not too bad either by the way.

    Whereabouts are you moving too?

My missus and I have just rented a 3 bed apartment in Mellieha for a year. Going over on the 1st March to drop off a few bits and pieces.

Reflections pub in Mellieha has a Hibs strip that I sent over years ago.

I,ve been quite a few times to Malta, fantastic island and people are so friendly, i,ve stayed in Sliema a few times they have a side called Sliema Wanderers, i think its usually been between Hibs and Valletta for the championship last few years. I,m sure Jordi Cruyff played for Valletta few years ago but not there now.
If anyones there next month the national team play Italy 26th March
Would be spot on for a meet of the two Hibs over there i,d definatley go and their ultras look the part & Sec43 could get a few drumming lessons

Remember a restaurant on the waterfront in Sliema (i think) was sitting in my Hibs top and the waiter came over and just stood staring at my top. Bit confused and after a small akward silence he then just went 'Zemmama!'. Was a mate and former team mate of Zemmama's from Raja Casablanca, now working in Malta and training the youngsters. Good guy.

ps anyone going to Malta, strongly recommend going to the bay just north of Spinola Bay in St Julians near the casino. Very nice area, stunning bay and nice restaurants there, although i'd not like to see the price some of the celebs are paying for those penthouses!

What would they be like if they were a mirror image of us? A parallel Hibs?

Eternally frustrated and always harking back to great days I suppose.

    But with better weather!

i also went there, it's the smallest pub i have ever been in. one wall of the pub is dedicated to Oliver Reid, the other is covered in memorabilia of the royal Navy ships that have been there. :pfgwa
