I thought they were Ozzies? What’s the Everton connection?

Or was it just the crowd that made it like that?
They are Ozzy. Tommy O’Dell, the lead singer is a massive Everton fan. Think his family are originally from Liverpool. The club seem to embrace it too. They have DMAs related Everton merchandise. Think the band were signing stuff in the club shop beforehand too.

Not sure if the other two support Everton too. One of them, Johnny Took used to live in Leith so hopefully he has a soft spot for Hibs.

Going as well. It should be good. The only thing is, we're up in the gods. We were in the gods for the Sh*g, Married, Annoyed podcast thing that Chris and Rosie Ramsay did there a few weeks ago and it was OK but we weren't sure what it would be like for a music gig.

After failing to get tickets for any of the Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe Tour gigs when they went on sale, we managed to get tickets for the show he added in Belfast next year when they went on sale last week. Going to make a weekend of it. Hoping there will be shuttle buses on as it seems to be out in a playing field in the suburbs somewhere.
Up in the gods myself for this. Will be the first time I’ve sat up there for a gig.

    That’s cool! Had no idea.

To be fair, I had always assumed they were English until I seen a video of them at one of the festivals I think it was.

The View in Aberdeen on Saturday night were as good as I have seen them live.

Caught them at the Lemon Tree on Friday. I don’t think they will be playing a room that small again, absolutely superb.

Saw them last night in Dundee. They’ve really honed their craft over the years, what a show.

They were pretty special, would have gone to barrowlands but felt it would be like a Celtic match or a wolfetones gig so just went to Edinburgh.

The new album is superb, a big step up from first one.

    Aye, Aberdeen.

I played the album on repeat most of Sunday. I’m not so sure the neighbours were as impressed as me.

I saw Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues orchestra last night as we have every December for years.

Extremely entertaining evening with Selecta as special guests.

Have to say I found it a bit dull. I was really disappointed when it became clear that his set list is just the same as his summer gigs.

There are so many tracks that he’s just done to death now. Half the World Away, Little by Little, Idle etc. Just feels like he going through the motions and it’s all a bit one paced

Would rather be played more of his new album or picked better songs from his earlier solo stuff. Most people seemed to think it was a great gig so probably just me but I’m so bored with his sets now.

Gigs are always a bit like this, no matter who the band are it's a fine line between playing too many new tracks or too many older classics.

Up in Edinburgh for Christmas so I went along to The Jazz Bar on Chambers Street to see Canadian guitarist Kevin Barrett and then the “World Premier” quintet.

Great wee venue, good music and a diverse crowd.

Well done Edinburgh for having a decent jazz venue!

The wife and I have given each other some gig tickets for Christmas, so in January we have Buckcherry and Florence Black in Glasgow and then in March we have Ugly Kid Joe with support from The Virginmarys in March. The daughter gave us a £50 voucher from Ticketmaster, so that'll go towards another gig somewhere.

Got a weekend pass for CTM festival in Berlin at the start of February. Big gang going over as there’s a lot of Irish acts. Will be nice to get into Berghain hassle free.

Anyone doing any Celtic Connections gigs this year?

Do they usually finish in time to get trains back to Edinburgh?

I won’t be at any gigs but the concert marking the centenary of John Macleans death and the Red Clydeside era is one I would love to see, Billy Bragg, Karine Polwart and Eddie Reader to name a few participants.

Last train is 1145pm, so you should be okay for most gigs.

If you get caught up in one of the legendary sessions, there's the bus station beside the Concert Hall.

(For the first time in a long time, I won't be doing anything at CC this year. )

Few decent ones coming up. The chisel at the wee red bar on 3rd is a definite. I might go to Jeff Rosenstock the night before at the mash house as I really like the support band, **** Present.
Also not gonna miss Hot Water Music, A Wilhelm Scream and Catbite at the end of march in Glasgow.

Had Bring Me The Horizon and Bad Omens at the Hydro last night. Really not my favourite venue, but it was packed, and it was a cracking show.

The secret is definitely parking up in Finnieston and walking over the expressway bridge. Made getting out and away so much easier last night.

Spanish Love Songs up next on Wednesday night at The Garage.

Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.
