Why Do You Support Hibs?

Because I have an infuriating, life-spoiling tendency to go for the underdog! I did not have a club in 1979, but knew Hibs were struggling. My Dad's a Hibbie and that might have caused me to have some sympathy for them. However, when I heard that Hibs had beaten Rangers (they were a club from Glasgow, and a big thing at the time) around Christmas time, I signed up on the spot. I have no idea what I thought becoming a Hibbie would do for me, but there have definitely been about two seasons where I didn't regret it!

Joe Harper - My dad loved Joe Harper at Aberdeen whom he supported as a child, but when he eventually moved to Hibs my dad started supporting Hibs and has been ever since.

My Dad.
It's often not easy, its not cheap and it can be time consuming but I wouldn't have it any other way.''It's always been just part of the culture. Growing up, for most working-class kids, is all about football, music or clothes. You might not have much money, but whatever you have got, you're going to look good.'' - Paul Weller

First top I got was a Hearts one but first ground I was taken to was Easter Road. Think it was 89-90 and it seemed to rain every time and think we won one game and never scored. I should have got out then

Because I was hitler in a previous life.
In all seriousness though I was brought up a hibee so can't imagine supporting any other team

Family more than anything else. Dad, cousins, uncle and auntie took me to games when i was wee.
I need to mind and thank them.Follow the Hibs podcast, Longbangers, on Twitter (@longbangers)

My Grandfather, all his brothers went to the dark side. The reason he supported Hibs was it was one tram fare to Easter road and two to mordor.

My Dad's a Hun. I got the brains in the family, and love(d) Pat Stanton. I have led my younger brother and sons to the emerald green pastures!

Grandad played for Hibs, my whole family on both sides support Hibs, there was never a choice.
I couldn't change now even if I wanted to, and look at the alternative.

School mates all supported Hibs so I joined in. My dad and uncles were/are jambos but I never took to hearts. My first Hibs game was against Ayr at ER sometime in the 1970s. Hibs one week Yams the following was the pattern. then I settled on Hibs

That's why I support Hibs, never thought it would happen but once you start going to games you can't help supporting the team

I supported Rangers, home and away, man and boy, but when they got relegated to the third division this season, I decided enough was enough.

Cos its a great place to go for a f***** boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!"

They are not Hearts.
They are not Rangers.
They are not Celtc.
There are Hibs.
Why ask?

Third generation Hibby.
My Dad and all my Uncles and cousins (bar the Aberdeen branch), are Hibbies.
Despite living in the South West of England as a kid, I had always seen my team play more than my mates. Used to go up to Edinburgh on the School holidays, so that meant games at Christmas/New Years, Easter and Summer, with a few half term games thrown in.
Now I am lucky if I am up twice a year. My first game of the season will be Ross County on Boxing Day.

Only addiction I'll admit to. Every home strip. Shouting about the results in a land where nobody cares. It's what happens when you go to Easter Road as a 4 year old to watch Hibs v Dumbarton. It was 1972!
