Brilliant stuff. His dad obviously had a lot of belief in his son.

Think I might put £1 million on me playing for Hibs then give Rod a phone and arrange to share my winnings!!!

Don't you know that you can squander millions of pounds that you don't actually have?

I used to think it was impossible, until I heard about a club called Hearts.

I remember a similar story about Chris Kirkland the goalkeeper, his dad put a bet on him playing for England the week he was born. He got something like 10,000/1 if my memory is right, and he was named in a number of squads only to pull out through injury.

I think he was even named to play once but was injured just before the game, his dad will have been gutted on two counts.

I'm gonna put a tenner on Shefki Kuqi making a start for Hibs. Should get similar odds I think.

Not quite. Dad put £100 on at 100/1 when he was 11......and he did play once for England.

Blackpools version was much more dramatic!

My favourite bit of that version was that his Dad placed the bet "the week he was born"

Cracking! Best thing is - the bookie probably has no idea he's about to have to pay out 10k!

I reckon Alex Miller must have done the same thing, betting that both his laddies would play for Hibs. I can't think of any other reason that they got a game.
