My favourite STC album, if only for their version of Dylan’s “ Don’t think twice, it’s alright”, Maggie at her supreme best. Maggie is hoping to return to gigging in June with the Hamburg Blues Band, covid and illness have restricted her appearances recently.

Just started listing to a live album, Layla Zoe, Retrospective tour 2019. A mixture of folk, rock and blues with in your face, emotional roller coaster vocals and some delightful guitar work from Krissy Matthews, great stuff. Unfortunately she cancelled her European tour due this year but it’s rescheduled for next year, well worth a trip to Germany to see her.

Really enjoying the new PUP album,The unravelling of Puptheband.
Mixture of hardcore and melodic punk which works really well together.

It's beautiful, isn't it?! Hoping to see them in Glasgow in October later this year.

Very impressed. I wasn't familiar with them until I got that, and it's been on the turntable since.

Some very innovative punk over the last year or so. Turnstiles, Chubby & the Gang and PUP have been my favourites so far.

I first saw them supporting The Wonder Years (with Tiny Moving Parts also on that bill) in Glasgow a few years back. Been enjoying them ever since!

Seen Chubby supporting The Chats earlier this month and both were very good.

Good stuff, both really good bands.

New Snuff album Crepuscolo Dorato..... was released Friday and has been on heavy rotation this weekend.

New Northlane album, Obsidian, is already my album of the year. A spectacular follow-up to Alien. They're blazing a trail in the metalcore scene just now.

I am not here by One Hidden Frame. Excellent melodic hardcore from Finland, very much in the style of Propagandhi.

Not an album, but a single that is doing it big time for me.

"The Skin I'm In" by Hi Fi Sean and David McAlmont.

McAlmont is one of my favourite singers of recent years, and he's back to his best here.

I'm not familiar with HiFi Sean stuff but I remember him as Sean Dickson of the soup dragons. Their hang ten ep of mid 80s was never off my turntable at the time.

Forgot I’d pre-ordered Belle & Sebastian’s new album. Was based on the fact it’s Belle & Sebastian and on the singles they’d released at that point. Only given it a quick listen but not sure it’s for me.

Not a new album as a few years old now but just discovered Sundowners, and their self titled debut. Been listening to that a lot recently.

Rich Kids on LSD - live in a dive just got delivered yesterday and first chance to listen properly this morning. Live show recorded in 1989 but only just released and despite me not generally being a fan of live recordings this is a solid album with a great sound.

This is the band that pretty much developed the style that became synonymous with the epitaph/fat wreck chords type skate punk sound of the mid 90s. Just a little bit faster, harder and more metallic.

According to fat Mike of NOFX, RKL are the band they always wanted to be but didn't have enough talent.

Not new but enjoying the amazing snakeheads one and only album. Love a Scottish voice recorded, it's so perfect for this music

The new Palisades album, Reaching Hypercritical has been on repeat recently - it's very well produced, and a decent evolution since their change in vocalist.

And not an album, but the new A Day To Remember track, Miracle, is absolutely phenomenal. Can't stop listening to it.

If you fancy a middle eastern, jazzy electronic vibe I'd really recommend Connection by The Maghreban...Such an amazing collection of tunes.

There's been a few that I have been liking a lot recently.

Screeching Weasel new release, The awful disclosures of.... it's standard weasel fare of snotty punk rock in that familiar Ramones style. It's not their best album, few albums are as good as some of their early output, but still an excellent offering.

    https://youtu.be/ks4ORalKPDw

SACK album Ripper is some pretty good melodic punk with some humorous lyrics on beer, bongs and the beach boys amongst other things.

    https://youtu.be/OpSOTxFXmVQ

The UK Subs just released their 23rd and final studio album, Reverse Engineering. It's what you would expect from the subs and it's a bit harder than some of their recent releases. At 78 years old Charlie Harper still has it and they are still on constant tour.

Saved the best for last, not a new one but from 2018 but only just discovered it. Self titled album by Territories. This has been played to death since I first heard it. Hard to describe as there are clearly a number of varied influences in there like bouncing souls, hot water music, social distortion, dropkick Murphys.

That is indeed a cracker! Incidentally, I seen Dropkick Murphys back in June at a festival I was at and they were outstanding. Maybe a little safe in some of their song choices, but a cracking set nonetheless.

Yeah, that band were called knucklehead before, I had heard of them but that territories one was a new one on me.

Not seen the dropkick Murphys since they did Dunfermline in 2017, that was a pretty decent gig. They are a safe bet for a good show.

Best time I saw them was at the Cas Rock back in mid 90s and just before their first album came out. It was all that stuff and the boys on the dock ep. Place was bouncing.

Wow a first! Someone enjoyed my recommendation 😅

Another one on a regular spin is Belief by Belief. Electronic with a kind of 90s acid baggy vibe. Hints of LFO, Liquid Liquid & the Beloved amongst others.

At long last the vinyl copy has arrived, technically it's a new album that is doing it for me but it was actually released on cd and streaming apps end of Feb.
It's an absolute belter of an album. Screenshot_2022-07-29-20-28-38-26_b5f6883d2c20a96c53babc0b4ac88108.jpg
