It's going to happen.
Probably at some point over the next 15 years, the last ****bo will close the door and hand the keys to the liquidator.
But what would you put in the hole it will leave.
What will the folks of gorgie need when No more buses stop at the oversize shelter?
A lidl or iceland?
There is really not that much space there.
I'll go for a medical centre for the depressed people in the area.

Considering the place is built out of meccano all they'd need to do to turn it into a scrap yard is pull out one bolt and the whole thing would come down.
A scrap yard would also be: more entertaining, more aesthetically pleasing, less of a hazard to public health, have a better balance sheet, be more competitive in the SPL and employ better educated people.
It would benefit the surrounding area far better than tynecastle.

Defiantly a lidl, poundland or similar shop something with real gorgie style that would fit it with the local surroundings.

It would have to be something which doesn't detract from the luxury hotel and appartments that they built.
Oh! Wait a minute ...

Surely a long period of time has to be left for any ground that is contaminated :) Maybe would need to ask this question again in a hundred years.

I've always thought they could raise a few bob by selling space on the wrecking ball for our own wee messages! :)

Just leave it to rot even further, no need for planning permission then as it won't alter the character of that ****** hole of an area one bit.

I'd leave the "notorious" Section N in tact and make it a listed building, on the grounds that it's living proof that even Edinburgh can spawn dangerous right wing extremism, and that this is never acceptable.
Glad we don't have that nonsense at ER
