I notice that the BBC's football 'expert' (a guy I've never heard of before and who's name I've forgotten already by the time it took me to switch from BBC Football to Hibs.net) has decided that it's between Mourhinio and Guardiola to be the next manager of Chelsea.
Really?
This guy obviously doesn't know a single thing about football, if he seriously believes that Guardiola would leave Barca to join Chelsea. It makes me wonder; is it just a case of English Premiership pornography myopia at its most demented and deluded, or do they write that guff knowingly to pull in armchair clowns, in much the same way the talk radio shows here cater for ******s who want to slaver push about the OF all day?

Football 'Experts'

The only football 'expert' i have much time for is Gary Richardson, perhaps because he lets the listener/viewer know that although he speaks intelligently about football, tactics and players across different leagues, its all a bit of a laugh and ultimately unimportant. He's just as likely to be making double entendres about Sol Campbell liking to keep it tight at the back than spouting endless OPTA stats and making golf club jokes about colleagues' funny ties, as the Sky boys prefer to do.
An intelligent commentator on scottish football who doesnt take himself or his subject too seriously. Is it too much to ask?

I would agree that the English press get a little too starry eyed about there own league, but its where all the money is at, and its sad to say that seems to be the driving force behind the decisions made by players managers etc.
But you never know, Di Matteo might do a good job over the remaining 11 games and get the job for himself. He comes across as a lot more approachable and "friendlier", than AVB the players might react to that.
EDIT: he is also on a rolling contract so he could go anywhere for free in the summer.
Obviously I am no expert, just my perceived observationsLast edited by Mikeystewart; 06-03-2012 at 08:26 AM.

Yeah guardiola said last week that he wasn't sure if he would stay on in the summer. He needs to be careful tho. At Barca he is a man that needs to fit with their football philosophy. I struggle to think of too many barca managers that have been a roaring success elsewhere

There are, of course, several reasons why Guardiola may not want to join Chelsea. However, there are many other reasons why he would want to.
If the article you're referring to is Phil McNulty's, his comment on Guardiola amounts to:
"Another name exercising Abramovich's mind will be Barcelona's Pep Guardiola, currently considering whether to agree an extension to his contract at the Nou Camp.
Is it a serious possibility, however, that he would leave the dreamland he has created in Catalonia with players such as Messi, Xavi and Iniesta - and the club that has stamped its philosophy through his veins - for the dysfunctional beast that is Chelsea?"
That's not quite how you've summarised it in your post it it DBS? Or have you read between the lines in a way that "armchair clowns" and "******s" are incapable of doing?
All in all, I'm not quite sure what your post is all about.

Ferrer - Didn't last long as coach, but generally disliked by Barca supporters. However, they were going through a troubled spell at the time of his appointment. I can't recall him managing elsewhere after Barca.
Rexach - Again, not well liked amongst Barca supporters (although mainly for reasons other than his coaching abilities). Did technically win La Liga, but I think he was only in charge of the team for the final 2 months of the season having taken over from an ill Cruyff. I think he is now a scout with Barca and I'm 95% certain he is the guy credited for discovering Messi.
Antic - Highly thought of by Barca supporters to this day, mainly because they consider he laid the groundwork for their current success. It's particularly impressive that they speak highly of him considering his previous association with Real and Athletico Madrid. He won trophies with both of those clubs which, given the state they were in when he arrived, was very impressive. I think he went on to manage a random selection of international teams.
Rijkaard - What to say? I think he's a nightmare (and that's coming from an AC Milan fan), but Barca fans have a split opinion on him. Actually did well (results wise) with Holland before getting Sparta(?) relegated in his homeland. His appointment as Barca manager was a surprise to some, but he took over at a difficult time. He could easily have been sacked early in his reign, but he got support from Laporta and ended up winning some serious silverware after the club had endured several barren years. His record since then, however, is laughable.

Jose and Pep won't take that job. The pair of them manage the two best clubs in the world and do you think they are going to come and manage the 5th best team in England?
