Anyone know the name of the tool to enable a removal of a screw that's knackered?
Bascially it bites into the head giving some grip....totally forgot what its called!

Try taking a decent (ie. "hard") screwdriver and hammering it into the stripped screw head. You might be able to reform it enough to remove the screw.

Problem is there is absolutely zero room to manouver....reckon ill have to get a narrow drill bit to enable me to sink in something which I don't know what yet!

Can I ask what you are removing the screw from?
There are tools simply called screw extractors available from places like screwfix or tool station. Depending on what your are doing they may be able tae advise you on the best thing. Anyhoo must dash for now. Do let us ken how you get on.Last edited by Saorsa; 29-02-2012 at 11:13 AM.

It's just a door frame that I'm removing hinges from but as it's rented accomodation I don't particularly want to knacker the wood by digging it out.
