Bit of a surprise in The Scotsman today - I thought he was a Hi-bee ?

Yup, and Wallace Mercer was a Hun/a Yam/a rugger man before he tried to buy us.

David Murray was an Ayr supporter.

And they were stupid enough to reject an offer from him

They maybe would have had an issue with HMRC but doubt they would have been in the first/second division for all the time since.

I think vanNISHtelroy has a valid point. The limit for a Murray-funded Ayr would be the top half of the SPL, challenging for cups and Europe, because the crowds don't exist to go any further.

Without the compulsion to compete with Celtc, Ayr wouldn't have seen the massive overspending that has brought the Huns to their knees, Scottish football to the brink of disaster (per every pundit/politician) and delighted fans of every other team. So their debt would be affordable.

Slightly disagree. If I had their money, I would be looking at buying the properties, not the club. Steady income, with none of the variables that go along with owning a football team.

    Absolutely !
Plus there is the baggage that goes with the name
Remember there are X0000's of bigot's to be kept satisfied.
Unless a new owner has leanings that way I would guess he will never be accepted
Whoever does take it on will be " between a rock and hard place"

Suppose there must be someone out there who " ticks all the boxes"
