    Sir Alex Ferguson

The great man celebrates 25 years in charge of Manchester United this weekend. And what a 25 years its been. Having been on the brink of losing his job after 2 years at the helm, Fergie turned Man United into Englands most succesful team domestically.

Here's what he's achieved during his time at United:

He steered them to league titles in the years 92-93, 93-94, 95-96, 96-97, 98-99, 99-00, 00-01, 02-03, 06-07, 07-08, 08-09 and last seasons 2010-2011. He's had 5 FA cup wins in his time: 89-90, 93-94, 95-96, 98-99 and 03-04. Add that to 4 league cup wins in 91-92, 05-06, 08-09 and in the 2009-2010 season. He's won 2 Champions League titles in 98-99 and in the 07-08 season and 1 UEFA cup winners cup beating Barcelona 2-1 in the final in the 90-91 season. He's won a UEFA super cup, an Intercontinental cup, A FIFA world cup and multiple Communited shield cups.

I've been lucky enough to watch Manchester United since I was about 6 years old. In almost 2 decades I've watched players like Peter Schmeichel, David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Lee Sharpe, Eric Cantona, Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole, Andrei Konchelskis, Rio Ferdinand, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney turn United into Champions and all of that is down to the man, the legend, Sir Alex Ferguson. The best manager in the world.

    Sir Alex, we salute you

Strange, but in a way, I think history will judge Sharlek's achievements at Aberdeen as being even greater. For them to defeat Real Madrid in European final, then hammer Bayern in the Super Cup is just plain bizarre. Going to Aberdeen and doing that, is probably greater than going to a huge club like Man U and fulfilling their potential.

Agreed Sharlek is the best club manager in the world, but I think Pep G at Barca will eclipse him soon, if he hasn't already, and -astonishingly- he's only needed three years to do it.

Gets a lot of bad press at times, met him outside Dens park when the sheep had just humped us in the SC semi.

Small crowd of us waiting for a replacement bus to arrive, been in the pub for an hour drowning sorrows, Fergie could have just dodged back into the players entrance but had the bottle to walk up and have a chat. Showed great insight as to what was wrong with the Hibs team and tactics that day finished by saying " give me 6 months with your squad and I'd win the Scottish cup! Actually came out as a top bloke.

Any one else on the Alloa bus that day remember that?

I like him, he's still a union man and always backs any other managers when they're under pressure...

Sorry just wanted to find somewhere to post this

Agree with everyone on here, I think he is the best club manager in the world. He has managed to change his management style to keep up with the times which is something others have failed to do.

Think he got a stand named after him at Old Trafford today. Absolute hero.

To give a sense of perspective as to how much the financial game has changed in those 25 years, when ManU approached Aberdeen for Ferguson they found out that he was on a bigger wedge that they had been paying Big Ron.

    Changed days indeed.

Facts speak for themselves - had a wee smile when I heard an interview wi Norman Whiteside and Clayton Blackmore saying that he was years ahead of his time when he advised the squad then that they should cut down the drinking if they wanted to achieve their potential (and by implication stay in a Fergie team?) John Collins anyone?

You're still not as big a Man U fan as that guy who posts on here and comes from Falkirk.

In English football, I was more into Liverpool as a youngster (would never say a fan, cause I'm a Hibs fan and would never be a fan of any other team other than Hibs), but have to admit that Alex Ferguson is the best manager ever in football, without question. His record speaks for itself. Absolute legend and I think everyone in Scotland should be proud of his achievements in the game.
