Not really, protect yourself at all times, don't go trying to hug Mayweather after you've headbutted him seconds earlier and your head will stay attached to your shoulders.

The only way that makes sense is if it was a unification fight for the WBO, WBA, WBC and WWE championships. Classic heel move.

Wthout wishing to blindly defend Mayweather a lot of the blame here lies with Ortiz and Joe Cortez.
Ortiz: If you're going to tell Floyd Mayweather he doesn't belong in the same ring as you for weeks on end and that you're doing him a favour letting him fight you then it's probably best to back it up. Backing it up isn't being unable to lay a glove on a man less than a foot from you for 3 rounds then completely losing the plot and headbutting him. If you do then it's probably best to obey the 'protect yourself at all times' command and not go trying to hug a man you've just headbutted and sarcastically blowing kisses at him.
Cortez: According to articles by Ashley Theopane and Timothy Bradley, Cortez gave a clear instruction to box before turning his back to signal to the judges to deduct a point. Why he turned his back who knows? Maybe it's time for him to retire as he's been making more and more mistakes in recent fights.
As for Larry Merchant he has went out of his way to wind Mayweather up for years. Floyd is a boxer you either love or hate and Merchant has been very clear what side of that fence he sits on. He has constantly run down all his acheivements. It's about time someone told the pompous old windbag to shut his mouth.
