For older supporters, sad to say the passing of this great left back from the 60s, a brilliant footballer and a place in Pat Stanton's book Dream Team was well merited, I have fond memories of him in his time at ER,
RIP John

Admins, why NHC? John Parke was an excellent player, we made good money from his transfer as well & replaced him with the penalty king, Joe Davis!

Undoubtedly the best left back I have seen in a Hibs jersey.
Just like Sir Pat, he is always in my 'best Hibs eleven''

I seem to remember he strolled through games, always seemed he had plenty of time , always the mark of a good player. I was in the enclosure at ER beside the players tunnel at one of the games around new year when he was out injured and there he was standing next to me having a fag !, changed days indeed.

Think we signed him after N. Ireland had defeated Scotland in the Home International Championship and Parke hadn't allowed Willie Henderson a kick of the ball- which very, very few, if any, other fullbacks were able to do.

He was by far the classiest back I ever
had the pleasure of watching

Younger readers will not realise that Parke replaced Joe McClelland-a more whole hearted guy never pulled on a Hibs jersey but silky soccer and Joe McClelland rarely appeared in the same sentence-the difference was amazing-like a different game really.

I too never saw him play, but he was described as the best left back Pat Stanton ever played with - straight from the horse's mouth. Good enough for me.
RIP John.
Thoughts with your family and friends.
