    Davis Cup (GB v Luxembourg)

Is this on cooncil telly/Freeview? Or does one have to get creative with the interweb?

It's not on TV but is being shown, free of charge, on the LTA website.

The first rubber of the tie is being played just now between James Ward and Gilles Muller. It's a tough one for Ward as Muller is a decent player and Muller won the first set 6-3. Ward's just broken him to go 5-3 up in the second though and he'll serve for the set.

Muller breaks back immediately though and it's back on serve at 4-5 in the second set.

Yes but Greentinted asked about its availability on council tv/Freeview!

You're actually right though. At the time of that post, I didn't notice it was on TV at all.

As well as the LTA website, it's also on Eurosport 2. Sky channel 411 and Virgin channel 525.

Andy Murray's just about to come on for his match in the second rubber.

Unlike Gilles Muller, his opponent, Laurent Bram, should not be a tough opponent. He retired and only recently came back. His top singles ranking was barely inside the top 1,000.

I can't imagine Murray breaking sweat here to be honest.

Less than half an hour played and Murray leads 6-0 3-0.

    This guy is absolutely hopeless.

6-0 6-0 in about half an hour.

I can quite confidently say that this is the easiest match that Andy Murray will ever play in his professional career. He's probably not had a match as easy as this since his junior days.

Only a lack of concentration will prevent this from being a 6-0 6-0 6-0.

    Murray wins 6-0 6-0 6-0 in about 45 minutes.

First time I've ever seen a best of five set match where an opponent has won 18-0 in games.

Surely James Ward will beat this guy on Sunday to secure the tie, assuming of course that Andy and Jamie Murray win the doubles tomorrow.

Anyone who fancies watching some tennis of a decent standard now should tune into Sky Sports 4 to watch USA v Spain.

Mardy Fish is playing Feliciano Lopez at the moment. Both players are going into this in good form as they both made the quarter finals at Wimbledon last week.

    Currently one set all.

Been watching it on and off all night and it's been some match!

With no tiebreak in the final set, this could be a long night!

Andy Roddick and David Ferrer to follow.

    Scrap that last post!

Lopez has just won 8-6 in the final set for Spain to go 1-0 up in the tie.

It's incredible that Spain can do without the services of Rafael Nadal and STILL call on two players who are ranked in the top 35.

Lopez is actually Spain's current number five and he is ranked 31st in the world!

Our number five is Dan Evans, who is ranked 312th in the world.

If Andy Murray hadn't played in this tie against Luxembourg, the chances are we would be losing this as well. It's scary how bad a place British tennis is in right now.

Andy and Jamie Murray won the doubles today against Mike Vermeer and Laurent Bram, 7-5 6-2 6-0 to move Britain ahead 2-1 in the tie.

Should things go as planned tomorrow and Britain gets at least one victory that will be required for victory, they will play either Belarus or Hungary to fight for a place in the Europe/Africa Zone Group I, which is the second highest level of Davis Cup competition.

As for the possible opposition, Belarus have a very good doubles player in Max Mirnyi but really have no singles players who should cause us any serious trouble, if Andy Murray plays.

Hungary are in a similar boat. If Murray plays, there really are no Hungarian players who are in the same league as him.

Watched the Murray brothers on and off this afternoon. In the end a pretty convincing and easy win.

This hand tagging thing really narks me. I know it shouldn't but I seriously can't see the need for it. Perhaps occasionally when a really good return etc is made but not every point. Jings they even do it when they lose the point.

The USA have kept their tie against Spain alive after the Bryan brothers won the doubles rubber a little while ago against Fernando Verdasco and Marcel Granollers in four sets.

Yesterday, after Lopez beat Fish, Spain went 2-0 up after David Ferrer beat Andy Roddick in straight sets.

However, for the USA to progress to the semi finals, they will have to win both singles matches tomorrow as well. Mardy Fish will play David Ferrer and Andy Roddick will play Feliciano Lopez.

Britain beats Luxembourg 3-1 after Andy Murray beats Gilles Muller 6-4 6-3 6-1.

Britain will now play either Hungary or Belarus in September to fight for a place in the Europe/Africa Group I.

However, the most significant aspect of today's match came at the end during the interview when Murray broke down in tears when he started to speak about coming back to Scotland and playing.

He doesn't get a lot of chances to play in Scotland nowadays, he doesn't get a lot of chances to even come back to Scotland either and it was clearly a very emotional weekend for him with his grandparents there watching him and a lot of other family members there too.

It obviously shows how much it means to him to come home and play in front of people who have known him all his life.

It was great to see Murray come out and play this weekend in Glasgow as it just gives all the fans a great lift to see such a great player in action. He says he will play in September as well, provided he is fit, and I'm sure everyone connected to British tennis will be delighted with that news.
