From BBC website: Nottingham Forest terminate contract of manager Billy Davies, club talking to Steve McClaren
Pity! BD is a good manager, but wasn't able to get Forest promoted. He won't be out of a job for long!

Thirded!
I find it quite funny how all chairmen at all the clubs he manages at seem to hate his guts.

I know someone who claims he has a bet on Billy Davies being our next manager. Not sure how you can get odds on that

What did he ever do to get a reputation as a decent manager? Spent fortunes at Motherwell and they were still ****

I'm no particular fan of Billy Davies. He 'socialises' with Tommy Sheridan which says it all.
My problem with this situation is Nottingham Forest evidently only sacking him after negotiating and agreeing a deal with McClaren behind Davies' back. It's a bit like someone knowing that they're going to dump their partner but only actually doing it after taking the time to find someone else and cheat for a wee while. No integrity whatsoever.

Not sure that Forest have done the right thing at all here nor acted in the right way but there seems to be a lot more to this one than meets the eye. The club have held two meetings with Davies in the past two weeks and have been unable to agree on the way forward.
Many here believe that Davies had an agenda to get himself sacked and that this was the reason for his various outspoken outbursts over a protracted period at the way the club is run. I personally think Davies may have a point, especially with the much-criticised transfer acquisition panel that Forest use to consider new signings, but I think his employers just finally got tired of the carping criticisms. He is a good manager in my view but a high maintenance one too. I think he'll always be reasonably successful but that this will come at a price. That's the nature of the game when employing Billy Davies as your manager.
