Lets see how he gets on up at Utd. Will he be an adequate replacement for Gomis?

Some how he will flourish with them, And be the dead ball specialist we were told when he signed for Hibs.
Pish signing IMO for Dundee utd,.With the players they are gonna lose this summer it can only be good for us.

Didnt work for him here, clearly, and I'm glad we've got rid, but I bet he turns out to be a decent player for Utd. He showed at Caley he could play in this league.

as Houston says in the United article, he is an industrious hardworking midfielder and will be popular with the fans, says a lot for their budget for next year though, clearly they have had to lower their sights a bit. He is the equivalent of when we signed Kerr to replace KT.
I had no problem with him leaving Hibs as I always thought he was limited as a midfielder, needed too many touches and time on the ball to be really effective going forward but could be relied upon to give everything while on the pitch and I always apreciate that in a player regardless of ability.

Wonder if his new nickname will be "Wotsit"?
120 appearances for Hibs and 6 goals but you can guarantee that he will score at least one goal against us when we play them next season. Be a header as well.

Best of luck John.
He may not be the best footballer in the world but his professionalism couldn't be questioned.

Always admired his effort and commitment but I just cannot see Rankin being a success at this level. He wasn't even an ICT regular when we signed him, just a good professional that scored the odd long range goal - not much has changed.

Jeezo.
any of you still quite young and good at football.........stick in there.
Clearly, you can be average and make a great living from the sport, just by staying fit.

You know what pees me off the most? we talk about losing all these players who will most likely come back to haunt us!! So, when do we come back to haunt all the other teams and players who haunt us or are we just in a perpetual fear cycle???

If he comes back to haunt us, he will have to get a big white sheet cover himself with it and cut 2 holes out for his eyes.

Fans have a right to change their opinion. Many believe that his hardwork and effort would soon be matched by an improvement in quality. That never arrived. There is only so much you can take. His choice of pass was terrible, his positional sense was terrible his second touch was often a tackle as his first touch was so poor.
He is fit, he runs about a lot but he is a poor footballer. The term 'headless chicken' has never been so appropriate!
But if you want to believe the fans made him a poor player then you are entitled to your opinion

Aye slag him all you want but he has signed for a team who are regularly in the top six, have a manager with a bit of know how and have won the Scottish cup in the last few years. So good luck to him, IMO he was treated atrociously by a large section of Hibs fans. He was by no way the worst player I have seen in a Hibs jersey, but some fans have to have a scapegoat. Wonder who it will be next season?? Good luck John.

However, it is the standard of player WE will be signing that is of the greatest concern to me, and I am concerned about who it might.

There's only one question any Hibs fan needs to ask themselves, would you rather John Rankin played regularly for Hibs, or Dundee Utd?
