Three bits of fried chicken chips and mushy peas when down here and a fish supper when back up in the motherland.

Chippies down here are relatively pish though compared to Scotland .

Nice wee kingrib supper, or just a chip roll if it's just for a snack after the football

My local chippy sells a mini fish supper for £3.50, mini in name only and I wouldn't buy anything else.
Yeh it's crazy. Our local does a kids meal and it's like half the price of a normal supper. Only difference is you get less chips although you do get a juice . I'm also quite partial to a blackpudding super .

Having lived in Glasgow for 5 years, I'd agree with the portion thing. Somewhat offset by the lamentable lack of chippy sauce, though...

The american accent probably throws them as well, S.
I know you're joking, but this actually happens to me all the time at chippies, probably more than other places. I get looks like I'm speaking a foreign language. But a lot of the time the feeling is mutual...

I work at an office that is probably one of the last places you'd expect to find an American. It's not quite like calling the first minister and getting an American, but it is close. All kinds of havoc can break loose when I get calls from unexpecting people. There was this one particular group of Aberdeenshire fishermen...
