Anyone involved in the debacle that was Waverly station today?
Supposed to be getting on 4pm train to London, this was delayed and then cancelled when we were then told to go the train that was mane to leave at 3pm but was still delayed. Then after 50 minutes waiting on that train being told there was no chance of getting to London.
So there goes my chance of going to the Brazil, and I can begin to describe how pissed off I am.

London travel issues

Not going down so no idea what went on today.
Is it just me or should some common sense not have been used weeks ago when this fixture was announced and the Transport Police and rail complanies come up with a plan to run some kind of old school 'football special'?
They must have known the demand would be high for the game and that trains and flight would bbook up sharpish.

I presume that's East Coast?
Might be worth shooting down the WCML to Preston on the 18:52 tonight, stay somewhere cheap then get a early train to London Euston tomorrow morning?
Would cost a fair bit more though!

It was East Coast and all they told us was "signalling problems" and on a train that was packed with two trains worth of Scotland fans it didn't go down well.

There have been major problems on the east coast line today due to (I think) power and signalling problems in yorkshire.

Now I might be wrong here, but when there have been problems on lines in Scotland Scotrail were putting on coaches to cover the trains to ensure passengers got to their destinations. Why is it not possible for GNER or whoever run the east coast trains do the same.
It seems the customer is no longer king, what with certain low cost airlines taking no responsibility for their ticket holders when ther was a wee bit of snow, and now, just because the rail network are owned by one private company and the trains owned by another nobody is willing to take responsibility. There is no such thing as too much yarn, just not enough time.

I flew down to London at 0705 for the TUC demo and the plane was packed with our so called best behaved fans. The behaviour of some them made me feel ashamed to be Scottish.

She's a big Scotland fan, TA and travel club member etc so no idea what she would have done to upset the guy, can only assume he was just drunk. She said there have been a few isolated fights but nothing major.Last edited by Pretty Boy; 26-03-2011 at 08:08 PM.

I was speaking with my wife about potential for today.
Imagine if England were playing at Hampden and descended on George Sq. en masse.
Whilst I hope there's not widespread trouble (and would suspect not) there will be pockets of incidents.
I was in London for Euro 96 and my mates got involved in a scrap in Islington after the game - glad I was relatively incognito as I was wearing a Roma top at the time.

I'm not a huge fan of the Scotland national team so have never been away with them.
I have been away with Hibs a few times over the years and abroad for a few big boxing matches and it's always the same; the majority are no bother at all but all it takes is a stupid minority and it can cause all sorts of problems.
