Ask not what your club can do for you - ask what you can do for your club

To paraphrase Mr. John F. Kennedy...

In the long history of Hibernian, only a few have been granted the role of defending its existence in its hour of maximum danger. We do not shank from this responsibility - we welcome and embrace it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with the supporters of any other club for Hibernian defines us and is part of our very essence. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavour will light our club and all who wear its colours -- and the glow from that fire can truly light not only our lives, but that of future Hibernians in generations to come.

And so, my fellow Hibernians: ask not what your club can do for you - ask what you can do for your club.

So what's it to be then folks - are you going to turn your back on your club in its hour of need, and run it down at every opportunity? Or are you going to back it with everything that you've got because your life would that bit emptier without it?

We are in dark times, and it's decision time folks.

The supporters have and will continue to do their bit.

    It's time it was reciprocated.

So you'll be in the 'running it down at every opportunity' camp then? I'm shocked.

    I like it

I know where Smurf is coming from (and I agree with many things he says) We as fans can argue all day about why things have gone wrong - has been happening over the last few months on here.

It's not easy - usually easier to support something you believe in.

But if we are to move on - the support and club have to pull together.

People at the club who are getting paid to do a job must start to do their part though

I`ve already backed it to the tune of 400 notes and other than getting the fitba bits looked oot I don`t know what else we can do

According to others, the singing and chanting has never been louder or more sustained than this season and yet the football has been probably the worst ever seen from a Hibs team. The fans are still turning up in deceny numbers given the utter dross being displayed on the pitch. As said by smurf above, it's time for the staff at Hibs, board, manager and players to do their bit. We are waiting..........

"We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in Hamilton, but only if it does not rain, we shall fight on the sand at Tannadice and the grass at St. Mirren, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our SPL status, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender."

Should the club make the absolutely necessary moves in the remainder of this window, then the fans will feel with justification, that their support is being reciprocated by recognition within our club of how serious our predicament is...

Indeed HAD the club (Board and Manager) prepared with the obvious urgency required before the window opened we just may have more points on the board and still be in the Scottish Cup.

That's NOT an opinion "Running down the club" its one from a frustrated supporter who like us all loves the club and is frustrated and disappointed, that the club appears not to be prepared, to take the required action, namely of taking the hit by getting many out and in.

So if you're not backing the club with everything you've got then you are turning your back on it? What would you suggest the players are doing?

To answer your question I am not going to back Hibs with everything I've got because all that would do is pay one of our players for a week or two and to be honest I don't think that would be a good use of "everything I've got".

I'll still support Hibs if and when I can but I can't afford £30 a game and I certainly can't justify spending £30 every second week on something that I don't enjoy. I'm sure there are many others are in the same boat.

Hibs fans would be in a much better position to whine and greet about the board not doing enough etc. if we could genuinely claim that the fans turn out week in, week out. We don't unfortunately.

The OP makes a fair point- the fans are always claiming they ARE the football club. Well I guess the club is only as good as it's fans in a lot of ways.

Maybe ask the players etc about what they can do for club and not what it can do for you. They have the biggest influence.

here's a wee tiny suggestion, and it may even come down to things like "six pointer" games at the likes o' Hamilton. why dont the club actually realise the real situation we are in, and decide THIS WEEK to announce that for all away games for the remainder of the season, the CLUB will provide free travel to games (buses). not the whole answer to our problems I know, but it would be some way of helping the fans/ team to get fired up for the fight that we are about to face.the press and the other side o' the toon are having a f/kin field day wi' the situation we are in,the fans are totally pished off with the lack of fight and completely amazed at things like changing goalkeepers when our last goalie was doin' no bad considering, then our manager making statements like" no grounds for concern"etc. we all know it is part of his job to talk up things re- the club but many are getting increasingly worried. we need something..............any f/cking thing to cling onto and try to assist this club from dropping out of the league. if it happens,it may take years to recover to a cetain level of support. the support is dropping like flies, and I, LIKE MOST ON HERE, can identify loads of mates/fellow Hibbies amongst us that will not be back this season, probanly next season, and possibly lost

We cannot answer for those shysters, but we can answer for ourselves. If you are not prepared to do the needful your club you can hardly complain when the players don't give a flying one either.

Great idea. Has it been suggested to the club yet? We have a few Waterloos looming, and the bigger and better the backing the more we can urge the players on the park to get their shiit together.
