    Hitting the post/bar does not constitute 'hitting the Target'. Only if the shot/header etc was directly going in constitutes it being on target.

    Someone start a poll.

    The target is to get the ball over the line.

    Hitting the woodwork doesn't do that, so, imo, it's off target.

    Having said that, hitting the ball at the goalie in the middle of the goal doesn't get the ball over the line either, but that's considered on target.
