    Ian Murray

Following on from De Graaf and Rankin getting pelters on here from fans for their recent comments in the press, i was a bit surprised to see nobody had posted Ian Murrays interview in todays Scotsman.

Hibs star Ian Murray today insisted there was no cause for panic despite the dramatic slump which has seen the Easter Road outfit crash to the bottom of the table.

A disastrous derby day defeat by arch-rivals Hearts left Colin Calderwood's players sitting just above basement outfit St Mirren, a mere two goals better off than the Buddies.

But while admitting there was no room for complacency given Hibs prec arious position, utility man Murray was adamant it's far too early to be talking of the Edinburgh club being relegation candidates.

As he hoped for a first start under new boss Calderwood in tonight's clash with champions Rangers at Ibrox, Murray said: "Obviously things aren't the best for us at the moment, sitting just above St Mirren.

"No disrespect to St Mirren, but we should be picking up a few more points than them. Perhaps there is a wee worry, but certainly no panic, I think it is too early for that. If come Christmas time, January or February and you are still in the same position then you worry. Every team goes through a bad patch. At the moment it is us but it also looks as if Aberdeen are having a sticky patch.

"At the moment only Motherwell, Rangers and Celtic are the teams you could say are doing really well but in football can change quickly."

Hibs will head for Govan tonight very much the underdogs but Murray claimed that situation could actually be to the Easter Road outfit's liking. He said: "The games aren't coming easy for us with Rangers followed by Motherwell.

"But I think you can look on tonight in both a positive and negative manner. The negative is that we are facing a team going really well, one that is top of the table. It's undoubtedly a hard place to go but it is also a chance for us to prove people wrong.

"Getting something from the game would be great but we must be looking for at least a performance."

Ian Murray has, and we need him in the starting line-up if we are to stay up
