A Rangers spokesman said: "Tickets will only be issued to the named recipient on the transfer from the DW Stadium to Old Trafford, and tickets will not be issued to anyone under the influence of alcohol."
Aye OK then.

Doesn't seem entirely fair that they can't get steaming before such an event.

Makes you wonder why they would make the trip in the first place.
Spend a fortune to be herded like cattle into a football ground many miles away, no bevvy, watch your team get horsed and then herded back up the road after the game.
Mind you they will still be able to sing a few colourful ditties of non football related songs.

How exactly do these plans prevent those wishing to cause trouble from getting a train, hiring a bus of their own or driving down to Manchester?
Seems like a bit of a token gesture to me.

Heard that prat Cameron on real radio rage about this last night. Apparently the hundogs are being unfairly treated in all this, "the vast majority of who are a tremendous support who were let down by dire organisation which led to a couple of bampots not behaving themselves"
Does he take acid or smoke crack while presenting that yad?
I don't know why the Scottish media pussy foot around with all that, why not be open and tell the truth. The vast majority are offensive religious bigots and complete and utter knuckle dragging ****bags who you want not want to be within 10 miles of, with the odd decent guy among them.

Same with sponsors. CR Smith realised years ago that if they only threw money at one half the OF, the other half would boycott their product and the "double sponsorship" model exists to this day. That's how insidious bigotry can be made to work in your favour, eh ?

There again it also works the other way KerPlunk. It might please the OF fans to buy their product, but everyone else (non-OF) avoids it... Tennant's anyone?
Also yet another reason to avoid Old Firm newspapers like The Hun, Daily Weegie etc.

It's always a "minority of undesirables" that cause trouble isn't it? They're "not real football fans".
Well I'm sorry but they are a huge minority and they ARE real football fans. they go to the games, shout and sing offensive songs and the players run to celebrate with them when they score.

02-09-2010 12:24 PM #13Police fear that there could be further trouble this month, with an element of the United support seeking revenge for the behaviour of those Rangers supporters who fought with police in 2008. It is expected that tight security measures will also be in place when United travel to Glasgow for the return fixture on 24 November.

It's funny how something as simple as football can regress grown adults back to pre-school years of maturity and mentality.

Deserve all they get. Hopefully they respond to these mutants with a bit of native policing their used to , or more not used to as it always is the away fans fault, back in glasgow e.g. beat the ****ers with batons to the back of the legs.

A wise move, but what does Plod propose to do about the people unrelated to Rangers who caused so much trouble the last time. I read in the Daily Record that it was Chelsea casuals and the like.
Nobody from Scotland was involved. I believe that.

nae luck then if you fancied a few days in Manchester and driving diown with some mates......as you would not get a ticket..
Pretty low % of tickets..wonder if ManU will get same low %
How much of the problems last time were from those who HAD tickets for the match...don't see how this does anything other than allow Rangers to say if there are problems 'it wasn't the REAL fans on official trip..Blah Blah'

Whilst some of the things that happened on that day were disgraceful (the Police officer getting a battering for one) I don't think you can possibly compare a European final to a run-of-the-mill Champions League match.
There were thousands upon thousands of Rangers fans down in Manchester for that final, people who just wanted to be there for the occasion. I highly doubt that there will be too many people there for this match, who don't possess tickets, certainly not enough to cause chaos on the scale that was seen two years ago.
Personally if it was me and Hibs were going down to Manchester for a European tie and my travel plans etc were all being dictated to me, I wouldn't be best pleased.

The good Rangers fans who have had their reputation besmirched by these blooming sneaky Chelsea types , it fair makes my blood boil
At the risk of sounding all "Green Street" im led to believe that Mancs viewed the Rangers , sorry Chelsea , shenanigans as a major insult to their city. To such an extent that the City and Utd hoolies are putting aside their mutual hatred to team up and go out looking for our Govan chums. It might be best for their own safety that those nice Rangers fans are being kept of the Mancs "manor".

Of course, this is how all away trips go in the EPL so they're just getting practice in for their imminent entry
next year 2015 2020 2035never.

It's a good initiative, and one I'd like to see implemented for our games against the hun.
I'd have them locked up in Edinburgh Zoo prior to the game for rest facilities/catering/family bonding.

I don't think many no ticket supporters will turn up for this one. Those that do will be turned away and all supporters will he herded like cattle to and from the ground.
They will be able to thank their idiotic moron supporters for the way they treated Manchester last time.

I have no doubt there will be a few mancs looking for revenge!
Imagine if a load of united fans had ran riot in glasgow. Battering locals and trashing the city centre(ok i recognise Glasgow is already a slum but bear with me).
I reckon if it was a reversal of what happened in manchester and all the trouble was in glasgow, there would be squads of trouble makers looking for revenge if they ever came back up the road.
I am pretty sure there will be loads of nutters in manchester wanting to settle the score!

If, however, I was a no-good piece of jakey trash that just fancied a second jolly down the M6 to get pished and go looking for trouble, then the arrangements as described might make me think twice.
You can bet your bottom dollar that, as the GMP didn't come up the Clyde in a banana boat, they will have a decent presence in Manchester City centre ready to hoover up any Huns (preferably in a melee of batons and dogs) that decide to a) ignore the police instructions and b) get pished and look like making life a misery for ordinary folk in the city centre.
