I don't know if it's Covid, the lack of a complementary NCAA season, the New England radical personnel changes or yet another 'behind-closed-doors' sport, but I just can't get excited for this coming season at all.

I really do wish this virus would just **** off already so we can get back to live, in-person experiences again. This was the first year I became eligible for a full Stanford season ticket, so I'm a little bitter...

    I’m actually quite the opposite.

As the opposite from you the Bengals personal changes and especially Joe Burrow has me very excited.

My first dive into fantasy has also added to the buzz.

I see you’ve left him on your fantasy bench though

My mistake I have Deshaun Watson and Edwards-Helaire both starting tonight, hoping it’s going to be a high scoring affair, neither team has elite defenses...

Yep. Points line is the highest of week one on the game tonight. Edwards-Helaire is a guy I’m very much looking forward to seeing. Especially in that offence.

Miami look much improved since last year and were really unlucky not to get a penalty for the final interception. The AFC could be a really competitive division this year.

Newton looked really good and added a new dynamic to our offense. I like him.

Brady in another uniform is just wrong...

I thought the NE defence was very impressive. Stephen Gilmore got a couple of interference calls against him but he barely gave our receivers a sniff. The 1st call was because he had read where Fitzpatick was throwing the ball before Preston Williams had even turned, it was unlucky.

From a Miami perspective it was a mixed bag. Some good, some not so. We are a work in progress. The O line looked much improved, Fitzpatrick had time but as I said above NE were just on it in the secondary so he didn't have a lot to aim at.

This time last year we had just lost 59-10 at home to the Ravens and followed up with a 43-0 against the Pats. We are now a far better football team than that.

I watched till half way through the 3rd quarter of Seattle’s win over the Falcons. That was time enough to make Jamal Adams one of my all time favourite Seahawk players. Total force of nature, no idea he was so good. We have no presence at all on the O line or D line but enough in the skill positions to force wins. Russell Wilson is just faultless.

49ers underwhelming. Garropolo is just a below average QB riding a strong team. Kyler Murray is a great QB trying to run a relatively weak team.

Thant’s harsh, you don’t take a team to the superbowl without the complete package. Garrapolo was as much to do with that as physical nature of the offence and defence.

I disagree. A few Super Bowl teams have got there despite mediocre or average QB play, Jim Plunkett, Joe Flacco, Doug Williams, Jim McMahon spring to mind. It’s unusual but it happens. Especially if you have a great D and running game. The 49ers would be a better team with any of 25 other current NFL QBs. He just makes basic mistakes and poor decisions. The 49ers are all about great play design on the ground and suffocating defence.

I’ve always had a soft spot for the vikings, but this is going to be a tough year. Not much happening either side of the ball, especially on offence.

Good start for your guy Jimmy G 14/16 and 2TDs Although hes sprained his ankle, they could rest him second half I think and they’d still beat the jets.

True, but I think in today’s game you can’t get away with a bad quarterback. He might not be the best, but he’s not as bad as he’s made out to be. The great play design involves the quarterback.

The Jets where my first love in the nfl due to them playing in green. Sadly I agree that both of us could step in and improve the situation, but not the results. To think parcells and bellichick we’re both there at one point and they lost both.

What a joke, 3rd and 31 at the 49ers own 10 yard line, 49ers call a running play and it goes for 50 yards, Jets defense can’t let that happen, just awful. Garapolo injured.

I’m not watching that game, but if you’re looking for complete incompetence then look no further than the vikings.
    edit

Rivers has started scrambling, this vikings performance must go down as one of the worst I’ve seen.

He’s one of the few who didn’t get injured, mainly because he and his offence checked out early.

Looking forward to see if the ravens can repeat last season and if Houston can step up, should be a good game.

The outcome I expected last night, but we're perhaps not the hopeless case many were making us out to be before the season started.

Cam looks sharp. He made the wrong call in the dying seconds, but he had a superb night in the air and on the ground.

I fancy Seattle are going to have a pretty solid season. Wilson looks dialed in right now and Metcalf, Lockett, Dunbar all made our secondary look suspect last night.
