At least it's someone different with no pre-concluded views on anyone up here.

What chance have we got of progressing as a football nation?

Does this guy know anything about football, particularly Scottish football, and it's many problems.

    Joke of an appointment.

When a "football man" was appointed he was continually criticised and hounded out.

Apparently he was a director of the Football league

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/8863484.stm

Think it could be a good appointment - just cause he doesn't work in Scottish football doesn't mean he doesn't know anything about it. We all think we know plenty and hardly any of us have kicked a ball beyond 13 yo! Let alone worked in the game.

Although with a name like Regan, the dodgers on both sides will wonder if he is "Celtc-minded"! Cue conspiracy theories.

That brewing company being Coors, who just happen to be owned by Carling, who just happen to have recently signed a hefty sponsorship deal with the SFA.

    Hmm.......

He has a football background after helping re-brand The Championship, which has regenerated that League.

Not in the habit of writing guys off before their first day in the job, so good luck to him.

As others have said, maybe not a bad thing to have someone from outside the scene providing fresh new ideas.

Think Neil Doncaster's heart is in the right place at the SPL and hopefully Regan will hit the ground running and get those Henry McLeish recommendations followed through on with the new Performance Director.

Having said that, I had sympathy for Gordon Smith. Think he was a good man with good ideas that was browbeaten by The Daily Record hacks. Was full of good initiatives that didn't necessarily make the press.

Joke of a post. Come on mate, if your going to get yourself in a lather, at least make it an informed lather!
He wroked on the Rebranding of League two football FFS. He wouldnt be doing his job, if he didnt make himself au fait with the myriad of problems facing SF at the moment, but then they arentthat hard to see anyway, any chief exec worth his salt could quickly get up to speed.

Good luck to the guy, he has the devils own job making any positive headway through the SFA Weegie blazer brigade.

Not convinced the quality of football is that great and a lot of average footballers from up here are a success there.

But you can't argue about its ability to attract great crowds and TV revenue. Different sort of job up here for him but we won't move forward if people aren't given a chance to shake things up.

your right the football isnt always great but its competitive, the fans turn up, good atmosphere, good TV and sponsorship deals

What the SPL need, he at least needs a chance
