I also emailed the ticket office for further info on prices and hotels, got this response...

    Blackpool F.C. Ticket Office:

We have not made any final decisions on prices for the game they will not be on sale until around the 26th July though. You would be best to email us again nearer the time and then we will have a lot more information for you. The Oregon Guest House is recommended and the number is 01253 346787 it is not en-suite however but the B&B is right across the road from the ground and a short walk from the promenade and the town centre. You would be best to call from tomorrow onwards

Wee bit off-topic but their first nine games are gonna be exceptionally difficult for a club that size. Away trips to Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Birmingham and Newcastle and home against Man City and Fulham.

I'd like to see them do well but I think they'll really struggle unfortunately.

Ignore these digs, get yourself into vance road, charnley road or hornby road. Just google hotels for these streets. Most are decent, have en-suite, and resonably near all the pubs and clubs.

Know BH is the man on the spot there, but we go to Blackpool a couple of times a year and always stay here. Self Catering I know, but clean, comfortable and reasonable. 5 minutes walk from ground.

They will finish bottom of the league (Unless there is another Portsmouth) and go straight back down again.

Wrong town for that Bob. You would be better staying at Preston and commuting.

Looks not bad for us, 8 laddies on the bevvy for the weekend, though I don't think it's what you'll be looking for, I doubt it's very upmarket!

It does however look perfect for us young East Lothian hooligans

One might very well be compelled to do just that if the standard is as poor as intimated.

Any high-end seafood restuarants in the town?

Bob - as you are dashing, I shall reveal (having been a resident of the town for ten years in the 60s) that the very dab for an epicurean giant such as yourself would be to stay in Southport - a far classier joint than Blackpool, where you are liable to come across sophisticates like yourself and some fine restaurants.
Philly McGuinness, Leitrim GAA, died playing in a club match for Mohill. He epitomised all that is best about sport, making a 6 hour round trip to training three times a week from his workplace in Mayo, and was never late. His motto was 'Give it all, or give nothing'. One for all sportsmen to consider.
