He has been sectioned in the past. As a rule you can only be sectioned if you are a danger to yourself or others. Trying to take a chicken sandwich to a crazed gunman surrounded by police snipers is........hey wait a mnute! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I think this should just be put to rest tbh.
I think he should just be left to wallow in self pity, because I dont think all the media and public attention is doing him any favours.
He's just another lost cause, no big deal really.

I feel truly sorry for Gazza. The simple fact is he has an addiction. Until you have been in that position yourself or seen it happen to someone close to you it is almost impossible to understand and certainly not fair to judge.
He could go one of two ways, he could realise he needs help and be willing to see it through or he could follow the George Best path and be too far gone, pushing those around him away and being quite content to drink himself to death. What a lot of people fail to realise is that it's not as simple as simply having a drink, injecting heroin, having a bet etc etc. A lot of the time there is no real desire to carry out the act but the physical or mental stress and depression is pushed back for a couple of hours and you feel okay about yourself until the need comes around again.
It truly can be the loneliest place in the world and no matter how many friends, carers, helpers etc etc try to help until the addict themselves truly resolves to change then it's pretty much a waste of time trying. It's not a case of Gazza choosing to drink, he needs to drink. One day he might find the strength to get the help he needs and see it through, he might be quite content to continue living the way he is until it's too late.
Whilst incident like the one at the weekend appear funny because people see a drunk man doing somethng stupid. What they are actually seeing is someone with a physical and mental illness acting irrationally because they have no sense of perspective.
