Despite the strong rumours does it look like he will stay down south?. If he does I think we have missed a good player according to Carlisle supporters. Can play right back or centre half - just what we need!!
Colchester United boss John Ward has played down suggestions he is looking to sign Carlisle United defender Richard Keogh.
The 23-year-old is set to leave Carlisle after rejecting a new contract and he has been linked with a reunion with Ward at Colchester.
Ward signed Keogh from Bristol City during his time as Carlisle boss and is looking to put his own stamp on the Colchester squad after replacing Aidy Boothroyd as manager.
However, he admits he is currently not planning to make a bid for Keogh as his priority is to bring in a midfielder.
"I know Richard very well having had him as a player when I was manager at Carlisle, but at the moment I don't think we will see him coming here," said Ward in the News & Star.
"He's a defender and we have got defenders. We've good full-backs and centre-backs and our priority is elsewhere in midfield."
Keogh has also been linked with Bristol Rovers as he weighs up his future after turning down the two-year deal that was on offer at Brunton Park.

Bit disappointed about this one TBH. Never saw him play but sounded like he had good intangibles about him.

No doubt money came into it as well but the SPL and Hibs are not a great incentive for players down south when Championship clubs come calling (unfortunately for us). One game in Europe maybe two every couple of years and a cup run won't dissuade them.
