The fixture list has given us a New Year derby. It's a Saturday and it's a 3pm kick off. Just as it should be.
Both Hibs and Hearts fans who want to keep this fixture as it is should make SKY and ESPN aware of the fact that we don't want it shifted. We can do that through our own clubs and by contacting these companies direct.
In the meantime, if you want to have the fixture kept as it is, add your name to this thread. Let's see how much support there is for this.

Before signing this bear/bare* in mind that we will only get 3000 or so tickets and if the date and time remains the same the game will not be on TV, meaning the majority will not see it.
* which one is it?Last edited by Danderhall Hibs; 17-06-2010 at 10:16 AM.

Tradition over TV coverage. This game should always be played January 1st, whether its on TV or not.

I had to rub my eyes, a New Year derby, which kicks off at 3pm! This is the only way it should be.

Aye.
Every gimmick hungry yob,
Digging gold from rock and roll
Grabs the mic to tell us,
He'll die before he's sold.

football, Saturdays, 3pm KO, as it should be, especially on the 1st of January.
C'mon the New Year Derby.

As much as I would like that......lets face it, its not going to happen. Football is run by TV now-a-days and they will have the final say.

It will be moved to atleast the 3rd as the polis get paid double time on the first and as its a public holiday on the 2nd they will also get paid extra(dont quote me, from what I remember years ago),I dont think the club/clubs could cover this. Would be great though.

Even though it means I might not see it, I fully agree. I'd rather have a 50:50 chance of going to a New Year Day derby than a guarantee of seeing it on telly.

Back this a million % both fans should make sure it's played on the 1st as that's how it should be.

Last season's new year derby (although played on the 3rd) was a 3pm kickoff and was live on ESPN. I think the OF was a 12.30 kick off and was live on Sky.
Would not be surprised if this is how it is done again this season.

Can take son to first ever proper New Years Derby, delighted with this

If you take the TV money, you've got to accept that these types of games will be moved for maximum exposure sadly.
That said, signed

Yes keep it on New Years Day. I haven't experienced a traditional New Years Day derby since my derby debut back in 1998 when we drew 2-2
