It's finally here! Game 1 of the 2010 World Cup is about to kick off in Soccer City, Jo'burg.
South Africa hosting Mexico.
What a racket - brilliant to see all the South Africa players singing and dancing in the tunnel.
Bring it on!

World Cup - Game 1 - South Africa vs Mexico
Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

Very little between them IMO, I'm siding towards South Africa by the odd goal.

Those things shouldn't be allowed to leave the African continent.

If anything, I feel a wee bit embarrassed about the message the vuvuzela gives to the world about Africa.

good first 5 mins by mexico and should have scored...not enjoying it now as those ruddy horns are as i expected spoiling it...its just a dreadfull drone...not as if its in response to whats happening...at least a crowd roar or other instruments add to the atmosphere by getting louder when good chance etc...these things take away from the peaks and troughs of a game

There must be a way Tv broadcasters can filter that high drone out. Our just let us hear the commentary with a the crowd noise much lower. Cant stand that bloody drone.

This isn't an African tournament though. FIFA should stop these eejits from embarrassing themselves. How is it that only Africans think this drone represents 'support' and 'atmosphere'?

They are much better getting rid of them for good but i don't think it's worth making a deal about.

Exactly. There's absolutely no relationship between the noise and what's going on on the field. They're actually drowning out any real crowd response.
Already I'm hoping South Africa go out as early as possible. I'd HATE to be in that stadium.

The way Dos Santos runs reminds me of the way Ronaldinho runs, you can see his influence on him.

Does not matter what teams playing that drone will still be there. You think Countries have taken 35-50000 fans with them?

I know.
But it's their supporters who're doing my head in right now.
Mexico just had a 'goal' disallowed for offside - correctly.
