I have rented flats before and they just needed a payslip but i am renting a house now and the solicitors want me to get a reference from the bank to say im able to pay the rent monthly. Basically so that they dont have to pay someone to do the check i get my bank to do it.
Has anyone else had to get one of these before? I went in two weeks ago and they said it would take 10 working days and that they cannot do it in branch only from head office. Its been 12 working days now and i still have no reference, who should i contact? is it worth going into the bank since they refuse to even do the reference or do i phone up a call centre and see where it leads? Its getting really close to when i want to actually move and my deposit is paid so i need them to send it soon, is this usually how long they take?

Problem solved, the girl at the bank never took enough info so now i have to resubmit the application and wait even longer!
