Has the title been won more often at Easter Road by other clubs than by Hibs?

In my Hibs supporting lifetime I can recall four titles being won at Easter Road by other clubs:

    Huns 1975 and 2005
    Soapdodgers 1977
    Sheep 1980

    Any others?

I'd been curious about this fact before but found it difficult to locate any info on the actual matches that sealed championship wins.

I reckon that Tannadice would lay a fair claim to being the unfortunate 'hosts' most often though. What have they had there recently? The last 2 years? 3 out of the last 4 possibly? And there were the 9-in-a-row days of Souness, Butcher, McCoist et al which regularly seemed to be there IIRC.

I was bemoaning this very point earlier.

It's bad enough the OldBigots winning it - but I think the Sheepy one was the worst.

Not that I dislike the Sheepies more than the Tainted Twins, I don't - but if you were there you probably take my point.

We have every league table for each match day in our database. I'll work something out on the train this morning to Edinburgh.

Given that we have only won the title four times, I would suggest it is a racing certainty.

If Rangers win on Sunday, that'll make it three that I can think of.

I can still see Fergie running aroond like a heedless chicken, jumping in to Bobby Clark's arms. The real scunner about that day, and also watching from the sidelines as the Arabs built a truly great side, was that the excuses about resources and money and loads of fans, that we use for the OF didn't apply and although that could have been us, they were both light years ahead at that time.

Provisional list of teams winning the league at an away ground.

    It excludes

    • Times when the league was won by not playing.
    • Years when teams ended up tied on points. It is a slightly more complex SQL query because of goal average / goal difference. I have included Hearts 2 losses in 1965 and 1986 though.

Dundee U and Hibs on 6 each. Though one of Hibs was Falkirk during the war in the Eastern league excluding Celtic and Rangers.

    These need to be verified.

You 've missed Aberdeen at ER ( Fergie dancing!)

I was wondering why Aberdeen winning at Easter Road in 1980 is NOT on the list.
It is because they still had 1 outstanding game to play and were level on points with Celtic. Their goal difference 32 to 23 meant that they effectively had won the league. However if they had lost by 10 goals in the final match Celtic would have won the title. So techinically they won it on

    If my query is correct

Hibs only won it twice on days that they played

Thats incredible, are there any other instances where big margins like that have been overturned?

I think it's a load of tosh and one of these urban myths, I mean can you imagine the torrment and mental anguish the players and supporters of the losing team would then have to go through for the rest of their lives.

Scars like that would take a long time to heal and result in very bitter and twisted people.
