Saw this in the express so don't shoot the messenger http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/...f-war-for-Kyle
I heard we were in for him at the last transfer window so maybe there is something in this, at least he never falls on his erchie as much as Nish !.

Not for me either, he is injury prone and at the moment another front man as way down the pecking order.

I did think when Billy Mehmet was linked with Hearts yesterday that it may mean Kyle was on his way to us, as hooking up again with JJ had seemed the most likely outcome.
I would be happy with this, big physical presence, decent scoring record in the SPL and has defensive qualities also. A pivotal type of player in both the passing game and plan B.

Although not the most technically gifted, i think he is the sort of player that we need. A strong target man that can get goals. With Stokes leading the line alongside Nish there is no real physical presence or someone that reguarly and consistently holds the ball up, which IMO is one of the main reasons Riordan hasn't been able to get as advanced as he has in previous seasons when playing on the left.
Another name that fits the bill on this is O'Connor and obviously he would be the preferred choice, but may be out of our price range.
I think its pretty certain that we will be without Benji next year and there is a chance of some of Stokes, Riordan, Gow leaving, so another Striker coming in is likely.
One of the reasons for Utd's success is the balance in their team with a strong back four, a combative centre of midfield (Gomis and Bauben), pacey wingers that can get the ball in (Conway and Swanson), and a strong striker (Daly/Sandaza) and a player off him (Goodwillie/Cadamarteri).
On paper we arguably have the better individuals, but the balance they have is what has brought them success. If we were to have this balance, a strong target man striker would be a great help.

I think he'd make a great addition as an out and out target man type striker - would probably mean the departure of Nish and that would mean an improvement IMO as Nish has never played that role very convincingly.
On another note, it's interesting how the Express are already trying to flog our top two scorers for us when I haven't heard Hughes or Petrie give the slightest indication that either Stokes or Riordan will be up for sale.

Benji & Nish are the only strikers with any hint of physical presence in the squad and one is out of contract in the summer and the other is useless. Kyle might not be easy on the eye but he is strong, effective and has height and the ability to use it to his advantage. He also gives defenders a torrid time and will create space for striking partner(s)
Would be a good signing IMO with Nish being allowed to move on.

There is alot of uncertainty over our strikers at the moment and it makes sense to sign another as we will likely loose at least 1 over the summer.
Stokes to Celtic or Championship, Riordan to Germany or Championship, Benji not getting a game and out of contract etc etc
Kyle is decent enough and I'd be happy for him to replace Nish\Benji. Would have Stokes\Riordan in the team ahead of him though.

Kyle would be a great player for us, leading the line with Stokes feeding off him. He would also give us much need physical presence at set pieces. Mehmet has signed for the yams according to an agent friend of mine.

Hope this is true, exactly the player we have lacked since we lost Killen.
I think the past few months have proved that physical presence is a must in the Scottish leagues, nothing wrong with having a physical presence in your side, coupled with good footballers in the right positions it can deliver succesfull teams that can also be good to watch ..
Could do with a big bruiser in the midfield as well...

Yes please!
Stokes and Riordan could feed of him all day, much better target man than Nish.

If we get him, and use him as a direct replacement for Nish I'll be happy
We obviously need to make sure we hold onto at least one of Deeks or Stokes so we've got somebody decent to feed off him.

It was good enough for Martin O'neil with Sutton and Hartson.

why all the talk of riordan or stokes going but no mention of nish
Kyle is a ready made replacement for nish.

nobody would want Nish, where as Stokes and Deeks are good for aroudn 20 goals a season.
Hibs is the highest level Nish has and will ever play at.

Remind me please.
Did we play hoofball when we had Killen??
I'd much rather have somebody who will win headers and hold the ball up all day long, and feed a Stokes or the att midfielders, to say we will become a route one hoofball team is being very narrow minded.. Dont forget this guy is decent with the ball on the deck too as was Killen
Strange because you would think anyone who has watched Hibs this season would be able to tell exactly what we have lacked this season, physical preference, a plan b, a striker who can hold up the ball being three of them..

and big Amadou Konte.
