    Hibs 1-0 Rangers - 94ish?

Can anyone find any videos from that game or even the match report, been looking for ages but can't find anything on it, it was the one with Keith Wright scoring a last minute winner if I remember correctly

Remember Keith scoring the winner against Rangers around that time, near the end of season, midweek, wasn't a last minute goal though.

03/05/1994 Hibs 1 Rangers 0 but I've got the time of the goal (KR) as 34 minutes

    I recall the match.

I don't think it was a last minute winner but it was deep into the second half.

Going into the final quarter of fixtures, Hibs looked well placed for a European qualification. I thought that Hibs only Rangers at home and Aberdeen away of the 11 fixtures looked unwinnable.

In the end they were the only two that Hibs did win and they ended up in fifth place.

I'm pretty sure I can remember a big scramash in the box and Keith putting it in, was certain it was right at the death but I must be wrong.

There's even a video on youtube of the game were we beat them later on that year but can't even find a match report for this one

Hibs did not beat Rangers again that season.

I think they won with a Darren Jackson penalty at Ibrox the following season but lost 7-0 in the second Ibrox fixture(?).

Yeah you're right, but later on that year we beat them 2-1 at Easter Road

I could be way off here but didn't Rangers win the league that night because Celtic lost? My memory is terrible though so I could be wrong.

My recollection was that the Huns would have won the league that night if they had won but they didn't win it that night. Celtic finished that season 4th behind Aberdeen and Motherwell.

You are correct. Rangers won the league that night.

Hibs goal WAS in the first half at the Rangers end, a sidefooter from quite close range IIRC.

from what I remember that game was the last time the terracing was used. It was our 2nd last home game of the season, the following Sat we played Killie (which I think was a dull 0-0 that kept them up) and we had to sit behind the goals cos for some bizarre reason the terracing was shut!

Huns still won the league that night, because Motherwell (of all teams) got beat. Their celebrations were fairly muted though, cos we'd won, which was a relief. They were fairly well ahead anyway, so winning the league was just a matter of time.

That's what I remember too. Turned up for the Killie game thinking it would be last before seats were put into the East, only to find it was already shut for the work to start. I also sat in the cooshed. Massive Killie support at that game, cos they needed the draw to stay up (three teams were relegated that season because of league recontruction from 12 to 10 in the Premier). Think it was Tommy Burns last game as their manager before he went to Smelltic.

I can't find any footage online of the 1-0 over the Huns, but I've a feeling the goal's on the Goals & Glory DVD.

    .
Yes I recall being transported and being surrounded by what Irvine Welsh later described as "the grumpy old gits in the West Stand" - I wonder if he had based it on that game. Recall people moaning about "terracings" being in the stand, grumblings "you should have come in time son" whenever any one was asked to make way.

Also summed up the start of 10+ years of abymsal supporters relations from the Hibs Board that no one was given last chance to stand in terrace for last time.

6,000 Killie supporters that day in a crowd of just under 10,000.

Ah, I remember that. Tommy Burns was acting the big hero, and then swiftly pissed off to Celtic just weeks later.

Sounds about right, goal was in first half at Dunbar end.
Not sure if Rangers officially won the league that night, I think they might have needed another point, but they were miles clear with massively superior goal difference so effectively did so. Certainly there were no great celebrations amongst the Hun hordes at FT.

I remember the Killie game well. They had a tremendous support that day.

I think we also had a 1-0 win at greyskull during that period.

Think that was early in the 95/96 season, maybe August/Septemberish. Darren Jackson penalty.

My memory must be completely away then because I can actually picture the goal clear as day right at the end and it was at the old Famous Five end, strange

Recall although Hearts finished 7th but they were pretty close to going down with 3 getting relegated that year, think they won away at Partick to stay up but sacked Clark anyway
