Saw this linked on another forum, comes from the quality broadsheet that is the Sunday People so not entirely sure how accurate it will be. Have to wonder how people get themselves into these kind of problems.

i remember someone at west ham, possibly etherington, was getting death threats about gambling debts, and the club paid them off in the end

and obviously there is the steven gerrard rumours

When Chelsea offered £32m for Gerrard a few years ago.. He agreed to leave and then the dodgy Liverpool underworld got involved. Needless to say Gerrard changed his mind the next day and he never left...

i heard it was nade but story a bit different. i heard that the crane they used to dangle him broke due to excess weight and they ended up just leaving it there !!

I don't know.. I have a book about gangsters in football and I think Gerrard was told that if he signed for Chelski , then it would seriously damage his health...

true, here he is in the olympic 1500m high board cake diving event, the cake is just below, he had to be restrained to give the others a chance but is still odds on favourite to win.
