Very doubtful that stephen McManus would be playing for scotland or even celtic if he never got that horrific injury

Never good news when a promising young Scottish player is forced to give up the game due to injury
This is how it feels

That is a sin. Dreadful, needless challenge and the boys career is over. Had a lot of potential as well, real shame.

Did Kennedy ever take action against the Romanian boy? I'm not advocating lawsuits to be banded about everytime a player retires through injury caused by another professional, but if malice can be proven, perhaps a case could be made?
Shame for the boy, was a genuine prospect

Shame, especially seeing as it's directly due to a filthy, cowardly tackle..

IIRC saw him play a blinder at E R in an Scotland U21 game - looked a great prospect, certainly better than anything at Darkheid the noo!

I think the lad could have gone on to be a top player. Very sad indeed. Scotland's loss.

He had a superb match and every time I saw him later he looked to be heading for a great career.
Certainly can't think of anyother C/H playing in Scotland who was anywhere as good.
Good luck to the lad in the future and can remain in football in some capacity

This is when testimonial matches are required....not for players who have already made their money, it also justifies why players should always hunt that "pot of gold" as something horrendous like this could always just be round the corner....very sad for the lad.

The tackle was a horror one and the Romanian should have been sent off and charged - he wasn't of course, after all, it was a friendly.
Kenneday was destined to be a great footballer for Scotland up to that point - sad loss for him and the rest of us. I hope he makes a name for himself somewhere else.

Sad to see John's been forced into retirement at only 26. Seems to be a good guy who had a great future in the game. Hope he succeeds in whatever line of work he embarks on.
All the best John.
