Another good BBC interview with Yogi on team motivation and Benji.
The more I listen to him the more I realise we've got ourselves a great manager who has created a great team spirit which has been lacking in recent years.

I love Yogi's interviews. He clearly set very high standards at the club and is extremely honest in his assessment of players' attitude. It should be interesting to see if Benji starts on Saturday. I think if he can keep Benji's head in the right place for the rest of the season it would be a huge boost for a push for Europe.
Not a lot of managers will come out and say that players are essentially playing for their career at a club, even during training, and if that's not enough to drive this team to success then nothing will be. Yogi is the right man to take Hibs forward, and I for one, was delighted when he was announced as manager. He is the right man to keep the players' feet on the ground when we have a good spell (like now) and will IMO prove to be the right man to shake the players up when we have a rocky spell.

I always thought he had the passion and his interviews (and recent matches) are eluding that he does have the intellect and intelligence required for the strategy and tactics required of the game. He has also shown up to now that he has the luck that all good managers need. So we have a lucky, passionate and intelligent manager, what more could we want Of course we aren't the only SPL club in that position and he can provide the platform for our players but as he has said the rest is up to them. In the main the seem to be re-acting positively. Listening to the interview it's difficult not to comment on Benji and so I'll say that he is, as we know, that type of player. I can't put myself in his position in that he has played at a high level at least in Internationals if no where else and he is far from home and single. Some people do lose interest in anything and everything they do and perhaps that is the problem with Benji. I don't know how much spare time he has and how many friends he has in this neck of the woods but maybe he is on his own too much? If that's the case can someone organise a buddy rota and we'll take turns at inviting him out to the movies and soft drink parties etc?

Only one thing I'd disagree on - he hasn't created a great team YET. he's working to d that thing, sure, and it looks promising that he will, provided the resources and players are there ot fill the gaps.
What he HAS done is in the area of creating team spirit and winning over the fans, who were quite justifiably extremely disgruntled throughout most of last season. And he's VERY good with the media.
He also seems to have the knack of keeping players match-fit even with 'one or two wee knocks'.Last edited by --------; 30-10-2009 at 10:43 AM.

It's clear him and Rice very much get along, and it's good that we got Yogi in, but also a close no.2 to him that has worked with him for a few years & they know each other inside out, and just effectively work well together.
Behind every good man is a good women - Yogis quality
