badly ran by a local businessman who although has put shed loads of his own money into the club didn't know when it was time to leave quietly..there have been a couple of offers on the table IIRC, one by two local construction companies which stalled as the council wouldn't sell them the stadium as well, and the other by the supporters. Bad news all round especially as my family were heavily involved in the foundation of the club.

So far as I know sport is a devolved matter and so the responsibility to say something lies with the scottish govt...

Not sure there is any need for any politicians to get involved but dear old Jim seemed to think it was important for him to have something to say about the rangers situation. He has been surprisingly quiet about hahahearts, Gretna, Clydebank, Livingston etc etc. Now he has nothing to say about Stirling. Not enough votes to be had there is seems

AIRDRIE chairman Jim Ballantyne has warned fans the Diamonds will die if they continue to drift away.

There were only 756 at the last home game against Ross County and Ballantyne admits if there is no improvement there will be no football club.

The main reason for the collapse in the fan base has been the team's failure to win in 13 games under Kenny Black since the start of the season.

But Ballantyne said: "The start of the season has been very frustrating but the fans need to support the team through this difficult period.

"We are at a crossroads right now and Airdrie will not survive as a football club on crowds of 750.

"We were there for the fans in their hour of need in 2002 but now the role is reversed and we need their support on Saturday against Ayr and for the rest of the season."

And another club in dire straits.

Have to admit though, Airdrie are one club I wouldn't give a toss about should they cease to be (again).

The petitioned and fought for their reinstatement to the 1st division at the expense of Livingston and got just what they wanted - now they're getting horsed week in, week out and the fans, after realising for the 3rd year in a row that they're not good enough to be in the 1st division, are staying away.

Stirling does not deserve a football club, because practically no-one there supports them.

Some of the worst kind of Bigots come from this area.

Even Alloa, a town one third the size of Stirling, ( not without its own old firm clowns ) gets bigger crowds.

Not really, this is more similar to the Hearts situation. It's probably put in place to try and force payment or to get them to keep to a payment plan and gives a quick and easy process to pull the plug if its not met.

It hasn't yet got to the administration or liquidation stage.

Nothing, the notice above along with the Albion notice were the only Winding up notices placed in that edition of the edinburgh Gazette. It was a straight copy and paste job.
