(EIHL) Edinburgh Capitals on the up

In case there's any Edinburgh Capitals fans lurking on here who don't venture onto the Caps forum... I thought it was time we had more discussion on everyone's other favourite Edinburgh sports team

After a shaky start to the season things are suddenly going great Guns at Murrayfield. 2 wins at the weekend, and a 6-2 thumping of Sheffield last night (so that's twice in 4 days we've beat the defending champs) means we're not bottom of the league anymore (but let's be fair on ourselves, we've played half the amount of games as everyone else), we're one point behind Sheffield with 6 games in hand, and we still have a slim chance of progressing to the Challenge Cup semis.

Still two more away matches to play before our next home game on Sunday against the teams expecting to be challenging for the league and playoffs (and footballers dare complain about fixture congestion and being "tired"!) so by the weekend we'll really see how much progress is being made.

Jeff Hutchins - what a signing this is turning out to be. Fantastic for him to score twice against the team that released him just last week - did you get rid of the wrong player by any chance, Mr Matsos?

Anyway - Sunday night we're up against the current league leaders (Nottingham) at Murrayfield so if you're lurking on here wondering what the fuss is about get to Murrayfield and get right behind the Caps!

In a display of total and unfaltering determination to raise the profile of Elite hockey in Edinburgh I'm dragging this to the top again!

This weekend we narrowly lost to current league leaders Nottingham (Saturday) but then beat them 5-4 in a thrilling edge-of-your-seat style game on Sunday.

The Caps have moved up one place in the league and are now above last seasons league champions despite the fact we still have 3 games in hand over them, and games in hand over everybody above us.

So, the future looks brighter for both Hibs and the Capitals - and supporting both is quite easy! Next home game Tuedsy 10th November.

    Get down there!
