How excited are you right now?

I am as excited about Hibs now than I have been since I was a teenager and still thought that we could win the league and cup. Everything at the club is going in the right direction and my optimism is starting to become a little worrying.

Well done everyone at the club.

I can't wait till tomorrow. I have to keep telling myself its Hamilton, away, on a Sunday, but it feels like a cup final in my blood. It is almost worrying, I have to keep calming myself down.

I am as excited as I was when John Collins and Mixu were appointed

I'll wait till I see where we are at XMAS before I start getting too excited

Not cynical just one false dawn to many to celebrate too early

It's nice to see some optimism about the place for once but I'd say I'm quietly confident about top 4.

We've made a couple of decent signings but they come with an element of risk.

    But still, glory glory!

  8. #7
    Cautiously optimistic.

For the first time in what seems an age, Hibernian seem to be going in the right direction. We have arguable made the 2 best signings in Scotland, and have an opportunity to really do something for a change.

If we could sign a good quality centre half, Id be very, very happy.

There was nothing between Hibernian and Celtc 2 weeks ago.

We have players playing for the jersey again.

Good stuff from Hibernian. Lets keep this going, starting with a good solid performance and win tomorrow.

Yes, it IS very exciting to see so much positivity coming out the club at last, but I've allowed myself to get too upbeat about Hibs too many times in the past to let it happen again. Let's just see how things go over the next few months.

After the calm post recent signings I'm wondering whether to pinch myself.
I'm still waiting for the catch - there is a catch right, was always told if it seems too good to be true then it is.

Yogi has been a breath of fresh air the new signings have helped as we all know we'll still need a bit of patience whilst things settle in.

So reality check time... well it wasnt that long ago towards the end of pre-season where there was a more uneasy air about the place and questions being asked of Yogi's tactics.

It will all come out in the wash and I hope its all bright green and white (hibernian flavour of course)!

Lets keep some control. We've beaten 2 teams that are candidates for relegation and obviously failed the first test against Celtic 2weeks ago.

There is clear improvement from last season but I agree with Yogi that Hamilton is the biggest game of the season thus far. This will give us a good indication of how far we've come and hopefully what we can expect for the season ahead.

I'm not utterly depressed like last season. I even smiled when I heard about the signings of Stokes and Miller.

I am actually really excited at the potential for our club just now.

For the first time in a long time, we are signing players at the top end of our 'level', players who, ANY other club in the SPL, would be delighted to sign.

I was this excited during the Mowbray years, however for a decent reason. Under Mowbray, we signed players who had potential, but lets be honest, how many of them did we know? Very few, if at all any. There was about 5 days of excitement under Mixu when we re-signed Riordan, but that soon waned when we still seen the brand of football that bored us under Mixu.

At last or prudence over the last 6 or so years appears to be paying off, just at the time when most clubs in the SPL are feeling the pinch.

I'm not going to get carried away with the signings we've made. But potentially, we could have a great season and go on to better things under Yogi...

    The futures green and white....

Like you mate it's been a long time since i also felt this optimistic about Hibs.
What you sow you shall reap, a referance to Mr. Petrie and Sir Tom who at the time in MHO sold the family silver. As the proclaimers song says my heart was broken, which is how us hibbys felt when we lost not just one or two players but more like a whole team. Where i take my hat off to Petrie was the prudent investment in the training centre, and his knack of getting top whack for Jones, Fletcher etc. I also think the financial climate which he may or may not have forseen has been benificial to Hibernian football club.
I feel that the old firm are feeling the pinch as are the yams and the rest of the SPl. We won't have a better oppertunity to win some silver ware than the present. Discuss all.

  19. #18
I am excited that old firm lost the points and if we will win tomorrow we will be third just behind the twin brothers.

    Come on the HIBEES!!!!

Two words to bring everyone to their senses, Hogg & Bamba ;)

We have improved up front, and in midfield and hopefully in goal, but we are still short of a bloody good dominant centre back

Ive not been a regular at ER for a few years due to work and family pressures but recently decided work was bad for you.So now got the time and am actually getting excited about this season and defo going to be at ER as much as poss.As to the new signings Yogi is the best ,love listening him on Hibernian tv .Stokes unsure till he scores a few but hopefull.Miller well when he came through at Celtic I thought he was superb , a mixture of Liam Brady and our own Paddy Stanton but think he got lost in Sir Alexs hyperbole and started to believe all his own publicity. Heard he has been back in Cork getting a bit of stick from his old mates and being brought back to earth , so hope Yogi can carry this on and get him back to his best and end up playing for Eire in the World Cup in SA giving us 2 players and teams to support. So yes I am looking forward positively to the new season rather than the usual Hibee hopeful but full of trepidation way of look at the future.

The last time the majority of us were this excited about Hibs is when we were getting ready to pump the Pars in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final and we know what happened then.

Hamilton could be fielding Christine, Neil and Lewis in their midfield tomorrow and I still wouldn't get carried away and think that the points are in the bag. I am airing on the side of caution in fear of sounding silly.

Ah phook it - Bring it on.

    Hamilton 1 Hibs 4

Bamba has been our best player by a mile so far this season, you will not find a more dominant centre half in the SPL.

...and who was roundly condemned by all and sundry on here as being unable to play centre half prior to the season starting, despite that being his position at the Pars.

The quality of the signings we've made have blown me away, to be honest. Crazy to think just 4 months ago Mixu was 'in charge'. Lets hope Miller and Stokes live up to expectation

Very optimistic about the team right now, however I don't think we'll necessarily see the results straight away. In fact, I can see us dropping points tomorrow.

Longer term, we're looking good. Once this side settles and Yogi gets a good sense of his best starting 11, we should be able to kick on from there.

Sunday's game is important in that it's the kind of game where we might previously have slipped up, but I don't think if we lose the game it will be significant.

I remember coming on here last season, just after the 1st game of the season away at kilmarnock. I said the team was awful, the balance was not there, and mixu's signings were crap. I said our midfield was just useless, and up front we'd struggle.

Anyone who was not wearing green tinted glasses knew i was right, but the usual suspects, who wont admit we were bloody hopeless kept on saying things would be fine. Well 1 year on, and how things are different.

We now have a forward line i believe will score goals. we have strength in the middle of the park, and we are decent at the back, the defense could be better, but we now have a man in charge who will know this, and will be trying to do so.

The manager we have now is a vast improvement on what we had a year ago, he has a vision for the club, i dont think Mixu ever had. So for all those reasons, I'm quietly optimistic we have a bright future.

"At the end of the day, we all aspire to bigger things in our lives but one thing I can truly say from my heart is if I never kick a ball for one of these bigger clubs I would be delighted to stay with Hibs for the rest of my career. That's how highly I regard this club." Ivan Sproule

I'd admit that after one game I was prepared to give the team the benefit of the doubt however it became more and more evident as the season progressed that things were chronic.

As you say, it feels like Yogi has an idea where he's taking the club. You get the feeling he's building something at Hibernian.
