Only suspensions carried forward from last seasons.
Bamba's booking yesterday is his first.
Even if he was to be suspended he would serve it now and not in January as the OP mentioned about African Nations Cup.
I would happily lose him for a month in January, it would still mean he was a Hibby.

The relevant section is para 3.7.5 -
"In the event of a player's offences totalling more than 18 points in any League competition, the points in excess of 18 will be carried forward and added to any further points he may receive during the same season in that competition, but will not be carried over into the following season."
If a player (for the sake of argument, let's call him Mikey Stewart) is shown 2 red cards (24 points) in the first four games of a season, he's suspended for ONE match, but when he comes back he still has 6 penalty points against him.
If he gets another red card in his first game back, he gets another 12 points against him, which means he misses TWO games for his total of 18 points.
If he then accumulates 17 points (say, a red card and a number of yellows, and then gets sent off AGAIN, he's suspended for THREE games, and when he comes back he still has 11 penalty points against him.
But if he manages to reach the end of the season without any more trouble, the 11 points AREN'T carried over to the next season. He starts with a clean sheet.
I think that's how it works.
So Sol the Bam's OK so far.
I THINK.Last edited by --------; 23-08-2009 at 05:55 PM.

With the African Nations, and then the World Cup, in 12 months time we could have a player with a serious amount of Caps and a serious sell on value...

Are Morocco in the African Nations cup this year
Are we likely to lose Zemmama and Benji for January as well?

Possibly. But we knew this.
And we can't look to sign international players of good quality and then not expect them to be picked for their countries.

There will be a lot of clubs in the same boat though, perhaps the following:
Bouzid
Bougherra
N'Guemo
Bauben
Gomis
Kingston
Touil
Aluko
All big misses to their clubs...Last edited by Cocaine&Caviar; 23-08-2009 at 08:05 PM.
