Excellent idea and being as the first two have involved 4 American teams, who knows, maybe next year they'll let a Canadian team take part.
'Hawks - Wings was the third outdoor game in recent years.

    Pens - Sabres last year.
Habs - Oilers the year before.

IIRC the Oilers v Habs game was played in 2003 in Edmonton to celebrate the Oilers 25th season in the NHL?

The (now likely to be) annual NHL Winter Classic with the massive NHL promotion to go with it however has been the last two years.

You can go back even further though for an outdoor game when the Rangers played the LA Kings outdoors in an exhibition game at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas way back in the early 90's.

    You're right. My mistake.

    Good memory.

Think next year's most likely Alex Ovechkin versus Boston or the Rangers.

Dunno where this leaves the All-Star Game, though

I watch via dodgy computer feeds.

I believe others - who have the cash to splash out on Setanta - watch NASN

Yeah i watch NASN which i get with my setanta package. Live game every night, sometimes you get two matches at the weekend. Highlights on most of the next day as well, which is great for me if the flames are at home. Only fault imo is it tends to show the same 4 or 5 teams so have you have to hope that your team is playing one of them in order to see them on tv

I don't have any form of cable or satellite at the moment, (cable is installed but I unsubscribed). What the very cheapest way of me getting NASN, Cam/anybody?

    These are the 3 options:

    http://www.nasn.com/portal/systemcontent/howtoget::uk

I'll be sticking to my dodgy feeds to get my Penguins fix until I can afford otherwise!

Stu, i have the full setanta package at 12.99 a month. Obviously at first i got the package for the Epl and Spl and euro footie action and never really knew about NASN's NHL coverage. I enjoy it alot and as i said the highlights are on everyday of all the previous nights matches so its an excellent catch up as well as a brief analysis.

Only thing about it i hate is when they show a flames home tie. 2am/3am start is a bit of a bugger but they tend to show us on the road more

You'll want to see the highlights of last night's game Cameron. Flames beat the Sharks 3-2. It's the first time the Sharks have lost at home in the league in regulation time since Feb 14th 2008!

Thanks Cam. I'm going to look into this.

Well you will go and support a team that's in a time zone seven hours behind the UK! Let that be a lesson to you!

I'm sure I have the full Setanta package on Virgin Media but I don't get NASN, should I be getting this?

I'm only questioning because a while back I was told I should have Racing UK but I wasn't getting. I phoned up Virgin Media, they put it on and said it was an error. If it's the same thing then it's a disgrace that you have to contact them to get channels you are entitled to put on.

What has happened to Jim Vandermeer? Is he still injured? Never heard his name for ages

How long do you think Keenan will stay in Calgary, Kenny? He has a history of walking out - just when things are going well.

Dunno if any of you guys who don't live locally are interested but the Edinburgh Capitals offer live webcasts of all their home games ... usually Sunday Evenings 6pm face off. You can get the details on the Capitals website. You can watch in the UK unlike the fitba'!

Islanders fan here. We've just lost Wade Dubielwicz off the waiver wire to Columbus Blue Jackets due to some strange rule. This is insane as we are clearly the worst team in the NHL and if Columbus had done all the work to sign him we could have picked up the contract due to our record!

Bring on the draft and Taveras (although knowing our luck we'll lose that certain lottery)

Magnus Hedman's the ISS #1 ranked prospect. Has been for a while. I'm reliably informed that Cowan's a beast and Paarjavi had a very good WJC too. Dunno anything about Duchene.

The worst ranked team only has a 40% chance of winning the lottery anyway, but is guaranteed a top 3 pick.

I thought that Tavares showed a lot better than Hedman in the World Juniors. I know which I'd pick given the choice.

Tavares over Hedman for me. We desperatley need someone like him, in the Sidney Crosby mould, to rebuild the whole franchise around.

Well i think this probally won't happen, he now been mentioned for winning coach of the year!

Mike has done a great job gettin each player to play a role and so far its working fine.
I personally think the flames are one or two players away from been a contender for the next two-three years.
I'm very concerned aboot Dion his defence of play is very slack and is on the ice for alot goal against. he is sittin on minus 7 but he needs a steady guy as a partner. Gio (no.5) and Pardy (no.55) have been his partners it really has not worked. Florida's defensemen Jay Bowemeester <sp?> would be the rite fit.
Over all so far i'm surprised how this team is playing , but the playoffs are a whole new kettle of fish, last nite we struggled against Phoenix never really got going, this worries me.
