Thought he had a very good game under the radar yesterday. Made the tackle and pass to Allan that set up the second, and generally didn’t put a foot wrong all afternoon.

Whole defence was solid. Do like Paul McGinn - gets the job done and will do a job for us this season. Can't see him providing any spectaculars, but a good, solid pro.
Like him a lot. He is no Martin Boyle but covers the ground and can cross a ball too. Makes tackles and is decent in the air defensively. My only caution would be that he loves to get forward and might leave gaps at the back.
McGinn is a better option than McGregor or Porteous for the right side of the three because he's more comfortable on the ball, which may be because he's normally a full back.
He’s a good addition to the squad
Had a good game. Showed the benefit of having him yesterday when we were able to switch from a back three to a back four without any hassle.
Said it before, you can’t build a whole squad on nailed on starters. Boys like McGinn are imperative. Probably fairly cheap, versatile, solid if unspectacular, but will very rarely let you down. No surprise that we were extremely solid yesterday, the height, presence and aggression in our defending was clear to see. McGinn, Doig, Hanlon, Porteous, Gogic are all big lads.
Pretty solid defensively but didn’t add much in an attacking sense when we moved to a back 4 midway through the 1st half. In modern football, full backs should really be adding some extra attacking threat from the wide areas.
I was happy with Mcginns performances last season and happy that he got good reviews yesterday, versatile player.
I like him, he’ll be worth his weight in gold this season.
Good attitude, versatile and you know you’ll get a decent shift out of him wherever you play him. Probably not on one of our highest wages either.
He’s only had the one bad game for us, on a night when the whole team was terrible.
A great pro , versatile , what we need is a specialist : Stephen O' Donnell.
Lewis Stevenson as a right back.
We probably need to allow some time for the new faces to merge with the others and get the right understanding of what JR wants.
Football teams go through phases of stability and fluctuation. I would like to think we are on a trajectory that takes us to stability but we will need a wee while yet.
Murphy was 8s and 9s majority of his time at hibs. Class act. Extremely unfair to then compare him to a versatile, utility player who will step in when required and do a job. McGinn does the simple things well, and makes very little mistakes, 7 for me most weeks. There’s not many full backs in the league that come out on top against those two mentioned. Andy Considine has played 500 games for Aberdeen and is a mainstay at full back for the serial 3rd placers, he’s hardly a prime Murphy or Whittaker.
I'd prefer sticking with 2 up front bud. I'd be surprised if we didn't start with 352, seems to be JR's preferred formation.
I know Livi is a horrible place to go but I think we'll have enough to beat them this time.
And to stay on topic I think McGinn has been a very good signing for us, as other posters have mentioned he's a good steady pro who does his job reliably. I think he'll start most games this season.
McGinn is a good steady eddie type, a solid dependable player who contributes to the overall stability and play of the team.
He reminds a bit of Gary Smith - not an eye popping signing, but a guy who is versatile, committed, professional, and a player who will quietly get on with doing his business reliably
